More bits & bob's
Had this for a little while brass case 30mm ADEN round no markings on case base but has the following;
Extractor groove - J 30mm R G then on the belt - 030 G Y 76 A P 1 Z.
Cannot find any markings on the projectile to suggest it is an A P but it does not have a bulbed base like some other 30mm I have.
Cheers :cheers:

My case is the same, markings are on the side of the belt. I'm in the process of making a projectile from aluminum round bar as proper projectiles are unavailable here. Those guns are chin guns for Apache helicopters. We don't have any... Mine is marked J 30 MM RG 72. Then above on the belt...174CY 75 PRAC 4Z. All the clear pics I find of projectiles are the bulb base. I may need measurements from yours to proceed with machining...

K no worries Jim I will get the calipers out tomorrow sometime and PM you with the measurements

I do have a 30 Rarden to work from here...and I have to make a 37 mm too, and will use the Staghound 37 for pattern I guess. I'll show you when it's finished.

Here's a website, part of "Oldguns" for you to examine and salivate over stuff...some very nice ordnance. Heavy Ordnance Catalog

So, 30mm Aden projectile is finished and painted. I used a blue that matched some of my practice ammo, I have four 40mm grenades and all four are slightly different color. Anyway, here's the finished product.

Very nice Jim a credit to you I must say the brushed finish of the case looks awesome that really looks great.
Thanks for the share looks like the stats I sent you pretty much made a carbon copy of a real deal sitting on my shelf 'cept yours looks better.

Thanks, the case was shabby and I cleaned most of it with Ajax in warm water and my bare hand for the most of it. There was some deep corrosion I had to be more aggressive...the measurements were of great assistance, I think mine is shorter than original and a boat tail like the Rarden I was working from. Now, the 35mm Bushmaster...

Would like to see that one.

I'll bring it around once done and painted. Maybe today...but very soon.

So, here's the final projectile I produced...35mm X 228mm Bushmaster or Orlikon. I was attending a power projection in about '95 and my brother was there too. He was Arty and when I said I'd like one of those new rounds for their AA gun he trotted over and brought back two cases. Well, I wanted complete rounds...
OK so it took me 25 years and endless searching to find out what it was and what the projectile looked like. Unfortunately, I didn't really copy the projectile that closely. Also I painted it training blue to avoid a repeat of what happened in the UK back in about '10. All I need is someone suggesting I have a Depleted Uranium projectile in here...
I clustered them together for Cinders...center is the newest 35mm with green case and blue projectile. I took a pic with flash and one without.

Very nice Jim I must say:thup: the flash makes the green cased one look like an art/deco piece very tidy set there bloke not much of the mid range in the 30-40mm (except the Bofor they are usually around $120-$140 AU) stuff comes up here and if it does commands a hefty tag.

Well, the projectiles for the Aden are available out of the UK because their helicopters use that I guess... The 35's don't ever surface that I've seen. Nor do the Aden's...I grabbed one when w local curio guy had a dozen come in. They're all long gone too. I do have smaller and bigger stuff too. I still have to make a projectile for a 105mm WW1 German shell. I need to find out what it looks like though. I'll do that out of pine I think. I have a Bofors and a 6PDR. I have one spare 35mm case too if you ever get needing one...no projectile...
