LW Stock with CC and P Proof and others ?

Came across a LW replacement stock being offered, that has a Crossed Cannons and Circle P Proof stamp on the bottom pistol grip ??
Seller says in most all of his listings that they've been “Restored & Preserved”

I looked over more of his current offerings and past sales of stocks.
Some legit but Many with VERY QUESTIONABLE STAMPS.
I spent a long time going back through his feedback....... and sure enough came across multiple purchases from well known Repro/Fake Stock Stamps Sellers. Main one being ole Bardall who continues selling these as he has for years...

I won't link this sellers username on the Bay, but will list some of the auction numbers. You can search yourself if you copy and paste item number in the main search box.

I'll attempt to copy and paste a few pictures of these items, with the current or completed auction numbers.
Remember on completed Auctions to click on the "See Original Listing" button near the top of the page. This will give you the original pictures.
Remember that only Inland, WRA, UEF, IP and S'G' stamped the Circle P Proof.
Look over current and completed listings and you be the Judge.

Stamping or Branding ?

The "Harbor Freight Tools" mover's blanket caught my eye right off. I've been watching a lot of his stocks sell this spring and summer. At least the pictures are good enough that a buyer can see what he's getting, whether he understands or not is another matter. :ugh: - Bob

That one acceptance stamp on an Underwood is halfway through the stock it's so deep. I guess it's better to use a 8 pound sledge hammer instead of a small ballpeen. Got to make sure it's "In There"!!!!! The flaming bomb on the heel of the stock is pretty deep too. I bet he doesn't know his own strength. lol.

He may have worked at Blue Sky Import prior to 'Restoring' stocks..... :bash:
Funny how a stamp can blind one to freshman repairs.
Stamps must be working, they are selling for far too much.
Sad really, people have to understand stock stamps, especially lightly struck ones wore off.
Stocks went through being sub merged in salt and fresh water, monsoon rains, jungles, mud, snow, cold, handling, combat and desert heat.
If they were repaired correctly, these could have survived as original.
Fake/reproduction stamps ruin history.

if you look at his feed back, page 9 it shows he has purchased from bardall1, which is Jerry Hyde who sells all the cartouche stamps on fleabay. Once you buy one of something on ebay you can contact the seller and buy others off of ebay.

Often when I see questionable stamps I look at the sellers feedback to see if he has purchased from Jerry.

Those stamps are a shame. If only new people would do their research. This would be the best place they could go to for advice to protect themselves from being taken
This would be more the norm for the flaming bomb stamp on a stock that saw service.

yes, one would expect that after 70 odd years of service that a stock would see it's original stampings, cartouches, etc to be worn down, many to oblivion or pretty darn close. A nice, crisp stamp on a stock (especially one that has lots of wear) usually means the stamp has recently been applied. The OP mentions the stock has recently been "restored", this is the sellers way of saying he stamped the stock without saying it. I am sure some think that putting a stamp back on a stock that it originally had is ok just like you put a flip sight back on a carbine that it originally had and so forth.

Of course not, if it's a existing original. We all enjoy nice examples.
