Going Rate For Un-Quality M1

Hi Everyone,

Just joined as I am searching for information on some M1 Carbines I have been contemplating.

What do you guys feel the current market is for an UN-Quality? A buddy of mine has one for sale (among several other carbines) but I am having a hard time gauging what they go for.

I'm also curious if anyone can help me understand the scenario in which the finish difference between the barrel and receiver on this Winchester would have occurred; just looks kind of odd.

Lots of Winchester barrels were blued. Some Inland barrels too.

I see. I just haven't been able to see any other examples that had this kind of two-tone look. Just a matter of which barrel was pulled at the time of assembly I guess.

Welcome to the carbine forum. We have many knowledgeable folks here that can give help and advice. There are also books, and the Carbine Club websight that can be of help.

An Un-Quality would be a nice addition to a collection. Pricing varies in different parts of the country, and the market can be fickle at times. But the harder to find examples go up to the higher $$ end.

Thanks Jim. I guess it all comes down to what one will give. I saw there were some gunbroker auctions in the past couple of years, but the threads did not mention what they ended up at.

Take in to account the Crossed Cannons Cartouche is a Reproduction.
This receiver has the punch style staking marks associated with adj rear sights.

Very early QHMC carbines were found with the rear flip sight 'round staked', like the pictured example below.
I don't believe this is the same case as the UN-Q in this thread, because of the location and angle of the Punch staking.

I'll do a quick look over of the first carbine he has listed on GB, the NPM. No link included as you know how to find it.

The barrel on it was indeed used by NPM as it shows the NPM Proof Punch Mark near the barrel makers P proof stamp.

But, At one time this barrel had a Type III Bayonet Style barrel band on it.
The pictures show the wear spots left by the inner pads of a bayo band, along with the circle mark left from the front end of that style band. A better picture of the front sight's pin would likely show it has been R and R'd.

I don't know how to put magnified pics on here. If you can MAG these pics up to see the Punch Stake marks from it having a rear adj sight on it at one time.... before this flip was installed.

Tell your buddy a IN or NI hammer was made/marked for Inland, He needs a HN marked hammer. And while talking hammers, tell him the hammer pin go in from LEFT TO RIGHT.

I do not recall ever seeing a recoil plate fit a Trimble TN stock like this. Fit looks much more like the IR made replacement stocks, but I do not believe they (IR) made a Hi-wood.

I saw that, hits it on the head, thank you.

Seen a mix master UN-Q with no description sell for $1699.99, bought by S-T-B, It will end up as a 'Original' later on.
The OP's Buddy here, might have a shot at getting his opening bid, especially compared to the $1699.99 example.

I'd like to apologize to the seller of the NPM I picked on in my Reply #10.
The seller clearly states in his GB auction listing:

" I would say that this barrel shows definite signs of a type 3 band installation. "
