shot a few
but I'm no expert beyond getting rounds on target, but I'll help if I can
i have one also. had to replace gas tube when i first got mine. what a job that was. i also bought 100 mag springs
hope it took
I too have handled, shot and worked on a few...?
I've only ever shot the one, interesting rifle, very low recoil from the 7.92mm Kurtz.
HENRY B, Thats a nice collection, had the pleasure of shooting an MP40 and Luger last year, have only ever handled an MP44.....
I was reading on another forum last week, that someone decided to build a AR-15 in 7,92x33mm. This had to an expensive project with problems still not resolved. A new 7,92mm
barrel was purchased and chambered for the 7,92x33mm (custom made reamers and headspace gages) AR-15 bolt face altered. The AR-15 in 7,92x33 worked and he fired a average
target. Main problem was a magazine that would be able to hold a number of cartridges. He was going to buy a German 7,92mm Kurz magazine and attempt to work this into something.
Many years ago a few attempted to convert the M1 carbine into a 30 cal Kurz or 7,62x33 cartridge as these will fit the carbine magazine. A new longer barrel has to be installed with the
custom chambering and the usual bolt face alteration. Almost like shooting a proof load with every shot.
I own an MP44 (Heinel)
I also collect the Kurz ammo, and other accessories, that go along with them, too - just for fun really.
*The photos are of the same weapon, the sun just caught the blue on the outdoor shot.

Box open left is an original 7,9x33mm ammo crate with individual rounds by date, factory and batch, the blue folder has some manuals and other paper work in it - also some boxed ammo - the box on the right is spare parts and some other bits.

Very nice . Is the fg 42 8mm?. i've ordered one in 8mm hope i chose the right cal .Any problems with it? also love the ammo crate.
I know Pitfighter above. I also have a few MP-44's and kits, get ammo Privi if you can ,its around and reloadabl. I prefer original magazines, in fact that's all I own. Magazine prices have been crazy here in the US and in Europe. I have a set price per mag and it $ 300.00. If they want more, well I have plenty and magazine parts. Sometime's I pay shipping and if the mag is in good shape, I will go slightly higher. plenty of original parts around just need the cash to pay the high prices. K-98 slings fit original are around if you look
enjoy
Hi Henry B -
My Fg42 was made by Krieghoff in 1944 - it is a reconstituted parts kit (WAF classifieds) - with a semi-auto only bolt and op rod made by SSD (an original FA op rod can no longer be installed) and semi-auto trigger parts custom-made in the US (922R) - the L marked ZF4 scope is original as are the covers and shades, however the mount itself is an SSD reproduction, the sling is from an M53 and is the sturdiest and best MG sling I have found.
(Simpsons have an original Fg42 sling for $750, but I am not quite that anal, yet, lol.)
It is 7,9x57 - as it was when it left the krieghoff factory.
The Mag crate was found through a Facebook European collectors group and came from Germany.
Hey Sprat - hope you are well, sir.
that would be the next best thing. to a full auto fg42 very nice. i bought a sling from a gun prop company located in the uk i think it is a shoei from japan. it looked much better than the ones on ebay, hardware looked correct as far as i could see from pics.Home Page
Here is my original with my two Shoei replicas.

Pitfighter 71, That is an impressive collection.
Does the MP44 fire reliably?
This is one thing I am wondering as I am awaiting mine--will it work reliably?
thanks,
Ed
I know a man that has a couple locally and they work fine, great...
Mine are used for movie work -
I have not removed the BFA since I took delivery of the rifle.
The Haenel MP44 I own did 3000 plus blanks from Atlantic Wall on the last shoot - (over a two month period)
The two screws that hold the stock in place worked loose on the last day of filming - this was a problem with the wood not the rifle.
It has now been fixed with a new stock.
We had three or four FTF's on the shoot - these were down to a bad mag, the 1001 East German mags seems to be the most reliable.
The Atlantic Wall blanks are not very hot, but they are very reliable.
