MKIII* Marking Resources
G'day there. I am rather new to enfields in general but I have noticed I understand basically nothing of the markings that are put all over these rifles, except the obvious ones. I've searched around and found a few references to books and websites with information about this, but I figured I would ask SPECIFICALLY if there are any resources that will help me for certain in the future with examining my enfields.
Thank you very much in advance.

Cheers, I'll have a look into that one. Is it hard to come by at all?

Type in to the Search bar top right Lee Enfield markings.......you'll find what you see there on various threads, depending on the Mk of your rifle.

Go to ABE Books they are there but pricey; from ABE $225 ~ $360 in USD from Amazonbooks.com $225 ~ $1,599.90 USD. You may want to think again about getting a copy! Better still post the pictures of the said markings and those of us here that have the book and other resources will try to help where we can thats the ghist of this site here to help.
Just in case you want to shell out the cash here's a link ABE's web page = AbeBooks Australia Textbooks

..........or go direct to the source, http://www.skennerton.com

Gil, I have searched for a few hours here and gotten interesting stuff, but nothing totally relevant to my rifles. Its a MKIII* anyway.
Cinders, holy smokes that is a little pricey. I have asked for help here twice before with the same rifle and got no bites. Maybe third time lucky. Perhaps its not the most exciting rifle that has ever been shared around here.

Everything with them is like a story and there is no harm done trying to learn of their chequered past I mean what could my 1916 Lithgow tell me, some of them have seen the gates of hell a few times I imagine, if you can take nice clear pictures of what you want deciphered then the lads here will always extend a hand I'll try but I tend to get it a little awry at times but heck I am still learning about them.
I mean the site is littered (I mean that nicely guys ok) with chaps that have worked on these weapons system for yonks and written a book or two on them so just get what you want to ask and go from there.
Its the old addict "There is never a dumb question just a dumb answer."

Cinders, I can't imagine just how much my rifle has seen in its life, but I would like so much to have some idea. From what I have seen there are some seriously knowledgeable people here.
Gil, I'll take a look at that one.
Aussie48, if I have no luck here I'll message you. Thanks.
