Anyone come across or followed Underwood E105 ?
Came across some odds and ends about it today.
Just curious if anyone has seen or followed it.
And what you may know or could share about it.....

Underwood Presentation carbine. It's hard to tell if it's legit or not as the carbine has the appearance of not having been taken care of. More pictures might help some. Are you planning on bidding on this one or just drooling? I think I would like to have it in my collection but a certain someone who has plenty of corn might out bid me.
Sure looks like it's had a lot of grinding on the rear.

They no longer can be pulled up from searches, anyway found a old post from 2007 where a guy was asking about E 105.
In his description, while in search for information he ID's the barrel as being clearly dated 10-43.
In the past 3-4 years, to include some other auction sites along with the current RIA auction (Lot 3496) the barrel is described as being a 7-43 ???

Jul 8, 2007 - A friend recently acquired a Underwood m1 carbine in excellent condition. All markings and parts ( including flash suppressor) appear to be original. The marking on the tip of the barrell is 10-43 indicating it was made in 1943. The problem is the serial number which is E105. Yes, clear and only 3 numbers.
No matter the Auction site over the last 4-5 years, the Description and Condition areas are...... Creative in trying to explain the grinding, refinishing and restamping.
Current listing has a potential estimated selling range of $2,500-$3750
I'll try to find some of the previous auctions 'Write ups' Sunday if I can. And previous selling prices.

Sold a few years ago. Had that barrel date. Suspicious that a few years earlier it was with different barrel date.
Will have to check, but adjustable sight sticks out. Looks to be rough. If used it seriously affects presentation value IMHO

With a 1943 barrel date the adjustable sight makes it a non starter. Plus Underwood didn't use the adjustable rear sights in there later production.
I looks like the area of the serial number has been ground and cold blued or maybe "browned" like they used on muzzle loaders? I have seen "Browning" used to fake patina on old Winchester 1873s, etc.
This picture of E105 is from the sale in 2016, it shows the finish wear in front of and behind the front sight from once wearing a M3 Flash Hider. Barrel described as 7-43.
In the current auction the barrel date 7-43, finish wear spots seem to be toned down, maybe touched up.
Currently it has the same stock it was wearing in the 2016 auction.. I'll link the current auction below.

Note in this 2007 link it appears it was once in a M2 stock, M3 Flash hider, plus had a 10-43 barrel.
Jim K, maybe our same fellow member here, made some comments and possibly seen the pictures the OP attached (no longer available).

Few things have me wondering......... Did the OP in the Firing Lines link incorrectly date the barrel? Reading it he seems to be sure of the date. If he was correct, somewhere between 2007-2016 a 10-43 barrel was removed and a 7-43 barrel was installed... Why ?
The current 7-43 barrel shows finish wear from a M3 flash hider since the 2016 auction.
Was the barrel replaced and someone put the Flash hider back on, causing the wear I can see now ? I don't know. Just something about this E105 when you look at the 'Rough Grinding, Stamping and Applied Finish'
Would you consider this type workmanship Presentation Grade ?
When compared to Underwood E160 ??

Look at current auction and the picture you post from 2016. It looks as if the barrel has been touched up in the front just behind the front sight and the receiver wear from slide looks to be touched up. May just be the pictures but suspect.
In 2007 the wear was evident behind the sight due to the flash hider. SO I do believe the OP posted wrong barrel date.
It was also wearing a bolt with almost no finish or one that was parkerized clearly evident by the new looking extractor. It was claimed in 2007 to have a potbelly stock, but that assessment was due to the M2 cut. Current pictures do not show enough to make the call if changed.
You can ask for more pictures if you are interested.
It is clear that this one was not a safe queen. Was rode hard and put away wet. Someone sure enjoyed it!

The OP on the Firing Lines more than likely made a mistake on the barrel date.
Carbine looks to be in the same stock, from looking at some older pictures with the same scars on it. But in the current listing you can see the stock has been re-oiled..... more shine.
And some of the metal finish wear has been 'touched up'.
Main reason I brought it up was the crude grinding/stamping and slathered finish applied on the receiver. Just rough compared to other E versions I've seen.
Clearly had a rough ride......

I've seen a few of these and have a question. Is grinding of the receiver before the SN stamping "normal"? Some have a lot of grinding, some hardly any if at all.
A few years back I passed on a nice, original appearing Winchester at a local show - price was $700. The bevel at the rear of the receiver looked like it had been ground on. Found out later that's not unusual - wished I would have known sooner! - Bob
