the seller send me some poor pics...
I think it has a normal wear due to his venerable age, but is he "original"?

Yes, the muzzle is pitted and has been recrowned.
Looks like a good example of a pre WW1 Springfield 1903, I noticed on the rear sight leaf slide, the screw is later, but could be replaced.
Two important questions: do you have a cartouche on the left side of the stock and how is the bore condition ?
Is it just me or does the the handguard look monkeyed with near the rear sight?
Before 1908 or so, the hand guard did not have the sight groove. After the sight groove was added, the hand guard clips came after

Appears to me the muzzle crown rusted from a storage issue and a poorly done chamfer there. Lands are proud in the barrel though, and doesn't look that bad. Does barrel date correlate with serial number?
Not pristine, but how many are? if price is right I would buy it.

Luckily their is a remain of a cartouche on the left side, but unreadable for me because I'm not an expert in cartouches...

It could be but this far downrange would be a reach. I'd expect something like this to have been assembled by someone along the way. Depends on where you found it and how much of that goes on over where you are. Others will be along to give you better opinions about originality. I just wouldn't be too hopeful yet.Quote:
