The T28 Super Heavy Tank was an American heavily armored tank self-propelled gun designed for the United States Army during World War II. It was originally designed to be used to break through German defenses of the Siegfried Line, and was later considered as a possible participant in the planned invasion of the Japanese mainland.

And of course it would be the center connector of the inside track that would need service...breaking track would take a week and 30 guys...that monster would be a crew killer for maint.

I was thinking the same thing Jim bit like the Tigers road wheels having to remove 5 of them just to get to one at the very inside! Bet the crew could have a party inside that thing depending on what apparatus they had for ammo storage and loading would have to be 2 piece ammo!.....what a monster seen B/W pics of it but the colour ones and next to another smaller tank shows just how big it was. The size of the main gun tube says there isn't much room left inside for the crew.

Is that one of those little "airborne" tanks it's compared with?

Last night I was watching a British WWII show, a timeline of the war, and they displayed this tank as an example of a German tank. Heheheghe. I guess it does look like a Jagdpanzer.

I believe you are correct. It looks like a M22 Locust airborne light tank.

You just gotta love Army propagandists (PAO). The T28 is a huge tank in its own right but to compare it to what was the smallest US tank of WW2 makes it look like a "Goliath" instead of a bigger brother.

I was showing this to my sweetheart here, told her of course they chose the smallest tank they could to compare. The Sherman is about twice the size of the M22 I think...

Thought I'd add this because of what we just talked about. Just for info sake...Wiki if you can believe what they say... The big one is STILL a monster.

Kind of suspect it was too heavy for European bridges at 95 tons. The Jagdtiger at 71 tons was like that.

It would just roll over it. We had one of those in Camp Borden Ontario on loan I think. What a tiny tank. Mostly for anti personnel it would seem.

There is one in the grass area in front of the squad bays at Camp San Luis also. I’d compare it size wise to an Chevy S10 Blazer. I’m 6’4” and 260 and I could not even begin to get through the hatch! I think a guy 5’4” 130 might be able to operate it without too much difficulty.
