Stumbled on this while looking at another item the seller has listed.
Seller asking $8,000 for this Carbine using Larsons book for reference.
NPM with U on rear bevel.
Has only 1 cut out for slide dismount.
Serial number not shown.
Would this be a U S and S supplied receiver ?
Anyone know the serial number range for these ?

I see the same seller has other pricey carbines. Two I cut stocks that have slingwells marked with the RMC and I stamps that were early transfer stocks.
Has a QHMC for $3,500. IBM for $7,000 and Inland hand stamp for $6,000. I remember this Inland as we questioned the sliver pulling from the left side of the receiver (his current pictures show the area) and that the 'Sliver' is minor/cosmetic.
I'm watching..... If they sell, I may start selling :bow:

May just be a milling scar or from tapping the Extractor down.
You know I've had my share of troubles with NPM Bolts cracking... all being marked N14.
Take a look and tell me your thoughts... remember look at the blown up version of the picture.
Also don't see the NPM Punch mark near either of the 2 P's stamped on the barrel. That Punch mark 'WAS NPM's' proof mark.
How do we explain the 2nd P ?
Charlie: That looks different than the crack on yours - see below. Have you broken that "new" one, already? I don't see the punch mark (s) either - maybe the barrel has been changed. Also, I thought the wood looked like it had indentations from a Type 2 or 3. Need to get away from the computer for awhile and get some chores done! - Bob

This isn't a U S &S sub made receiver,
but a first block NPM that fellow member Martin08 purchased from the family of the Korean War Vet who brought it home.
I use it to compare any want to be early NPM to.
Has a sear marked B1, surely an integrated part.

Charlie, according to CCNL 198-2, US&S delivered 50,052 receivers to NPM between 8/43-3/44. As far as that GB seller goes I have noticed his crazy prices before and it is all buy it now, he is waiting for the right sucker to come along.Quote:

These NPM posts remind me of a buddy's nice 4.1M that I've been trying deal him out of for 14 years - that one with the "S" in the wrong place on the rear sight!
The carbines that seller has have been on GB for what seems like years, if it actually hasn't been. Plus, about two or maybe three months ago they suddenly jacked up their already overpriced carbines to where they are now. I don't know if they are hoping for a unicorn buyer, saying f-you to the general buying public or both...very curious indeed and not a way to sell their wares.Quote:

I'm still laughing about the 'Look' I got from the Wife when opening the package that came in here recently.
Bought a wood Ammo crate from Salter on GB. Pulled it from the cardboard box and as I unscrewed the wing nuts... She asked- What's in it?
I replied...... It's an empty box. Then received the 'Look'...... The 'Look' that includes the roll of their eyes in disbelief.
They just don't fully understand.
BTW Salter currently has a pretty nice SA carbine stock listed for $50 + ship on GB.... FWIW
That guy would post over on the cmp forum a few years back . Hillertactical was his handle over there. I think those are some of the better I don't want to sell it prices I have seen in a while.
