My M1 Carbines.

A Grand Rapid Plant Saginaw Stearing Gear.

Most parts seem to be matching, with the exception of the stock and the handguard, they're from an Underwood. But the rest seems to be ok.

An all original parts early Winchester M1 Carbine. The stock is an I-cut that was changed into a low wood, it's strange but the only markings I found on the wood is a "W" in the well for the sling. Maybe the inspectors mark and the eskutcheon have been worn off.

Forgive my ignorance,but shouldn't your Winchester have one more number in the serial?I also have a somewhat early Winchester (type 1 receiver,spring tube) and my serial is 1176194. I thought Winchester serials started at 1 million besides the 6-10 they were first assigned

Hey Jim,long time no see lol.i hope you are doing well. I bet it is a play on the light in the picture. I only noticed it because I noticed his serial number was fairly close to mine but it was only missing one digit it appeared.btw,I have been thoroughly enjoying the SEY 30 rnders

It's indeed due to the angle the photograph was taken. There is another digit that is hidden.

It took years of fruitless search before I finally found an M1A1 Carbine. Unfortunately it was a demilled one!!! But as the price was very good I couldn't resist, alltough I had sworn myself never to buy a demilled gun.

My plan was to take the stock and put it on another, still functional, Inland carbine I have, but as this one seems to be an original "first production run" M1A1 I just left it as it is. But If I would find a correct barrel and bolt I might replace them.

It makes your heart bleed to see that such a fine and hard to find weapon was castrated just because someone had to have an "original" .....because in the end it isn't original anymore, it had it's soul ripped out! But as I said, I couldn't pass on.

Another M1 carbine, this one is a Standard Products. I got it from a friends father who got it when he was a member of the "Résistance" and fought with the GI´s in 1944/1945.

It is a low serial number, early production and all the parts seem to be original, except for the type 2 sight which must have been fitted by an US Army armourer before the old geezer got it.
