I think the wood in the OP's rifle could do with some 0000 Steel wool & RLO/Min Turps 60/40 mix a good scrubbing and wiping down to clean it a little and give the stock a drink as it looks dry as Dead Gulch.
Don't let the steel wool onto the metal work or it will remove the finish real quick, if it has small rust patches these can be removed by STAINLESS steel wool (I use a unimpregnated Stainless scourer) use it with WD40 or RP 7 spray the stainless and scrub the rust spot (avoiding the wood) wipe off with a rag & presto there you go good as new it will not damage the finish, use ordinary steel wool and you'll have a nice chrome like shiney spot where you rubbed it.
Love my Faz No5 ... You beat me to it Ron, that wood looks terribly dry, follow Ron's advise and you will be stunned at the difference as you nourish the wood.
Pop off the forend and give the inside a good linseed feed too.
A great find though, they aren't that easy to find here in the UK now.
Thanks for advice, I will jump on that. I had it apart before I shot it and it is just fine mechanically and structurally. There was one tiny surface rust spot on the barrel that came off with my fingernail, other than that I will get that wood fixed up.Quote:

It has no ungodly grind marks, cut wood or "lightened" flash hider, well done!
Just remember when removing the forend that you dont pull from the muzzle end, you remove by pulling up at the wrist. The reverse for installation. Being your first Enfield you may not know that The wood inside of the forend is cut to specific angles and removing or installing incorrectly can hurt the wood resulting in poorer accuracy.

Regarding the name Malaya to Malaysia, it was a bit fraught because while politically it became Malaysia, the military and para military Police retained the name Malaya. So the many Battalions of the Royal Malay Regiment - 4 RMR were based with us for some time - and the RFMP remained MALAY despite the prodding etc etc of the Governments of the 'old' Malaya, Sarawak and Borneo. The Infantry Battalions and Armour just seemed to remain RMR or MACR for the Armoured Car Regt until I returned to Oz in very late 69
That's when I first learned about political correctness. Ain't been much of a fan since then!

I was fortunate to get my excellent example via Promo of this Parish last year.
Ex Indian examples seem to be the most commonly encountered here in the UK these days, well used, refinished with the typical Ishapore lateral screw.
Fulton's had a couple of nice ones hanging up on their shop wall when I was last in there a few months back.......hate to think how much they are asking for them though :madsmile:
Enfieldguns have a couple on their website as well, including an early '44 example.
Bolt Open Classics had (still have) a really nice looking one pop up on their webiste as well, but it wasn't long at all before 'SOLD' appeared next to it.
Two or three different import batches of FMP No 5 MK I rifles sold here in the US over the past decade, the last a small batch of what appeared to be redone weapons about 4 years ago. The price on the last batch was around 500 and they looked pretty nice, with good bores and in the case of a friends rifle bought that time, with a new handguard that seemed to have been made from a No 4 handguard.
