New Guy with New-To-Me AR15A2

I was able to purchase a beautiful pre-ban Colt "Government Model" AR15A2 recently, in the original box, etc. mint condition and joined the forum today to ask a few questions. Save for the fact that it has no "three round burst" mode option, as far as I can tell, it is as close to an original M16A2 as is available to mere mortals, but of course, correct me if I'm wrong.

1) Is it true that the M855 round was made for this version of the M-16 family of rifles, the A2?

2) I would like to purchase the most authentic butt stock cleaning kit for this rifle as possible, what should I be looking for?

3) Ditto for the most authentic bayonet for it? Is the longer USMC bayo considered ok for the A2?

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, the 1x7 twist barrel was designed for the SS109/M855 62 grain ball round as well as heavier tracer ammo. You can shoot the lighter M193 55 grain ammo too with good results.
2. The buttstock cleaning kit consisted of a rubberized triangular case, sectional cleaning rod, chamber brush, bore brush, plastic double ended toothbrush, patches and small bottle of CLP.
3. Both the M7 and later M9 were issued with the M16A2.

Very nice AR15 A2. Colt finally came out with the A2 when they ran out of A1 parts for their earlier AR15 series. Colt has a history of never throwing out good parts when they can be sold to the public. During the M16 production if the government required changes to the M16 series. Those parts no longer accepted by the government would be transferred to the civilian production. That's is why you see a progression of differences in the civilian AR15 from early flash hiders, Buttstocks without trapdoors, etc. A prime example is on your rifle. Please note the lower receiver is an early slab sided flat type without the fence around magazine release. The lower receiver was made from the large amount of forgings that were purchased for the early M16 rifles. When the government very quickly went to the partial and then full fence lowers these flat sided forgings were unusable for the military contracts, those were used in the civilian AR15 production. They had so many that these slab sided lower forgings were used into the 1980's.
