Thought you guys might enjoy another installment of "Ryan's Collectible Catch and Release" program.
I knew from the pictures this one was rough so it was bought as a parts donor. Even knowing it was bad, I was still surprised haha. But at least now I can say I've owned a Krag carbine :thup:
If this one could talk it would probably say, "OH GOD, WHY!?!?!" :lol:

Nice... I bet it hung over a fireplace and the soot and smoke was allowed to accumulate. Then, after grandpa died it was looked at for the first time in 60 years. Too bad...but nothing brings out true talent like a hopeless case. Get at 'Er...

Not a project for me. It’s just too far gone, unfortunately. If it had come in better than the pictures showed, I’d probably hang on to it.
I did quite well on the other two guns though. An Arisaka with the quick detach sling (which is apparently quite valuable by itself) and a martially marked Stevens 620.
Not a dam buster auction for me but a success nevertheless! Keeps me rolling to the next one. I have a great 1903 coming in on Saturday I’ll have to get posted. Watch for that one!

If it’s any consolation (it is to me) the bore is also toast. It would be pretty heartbreaking if the outside looked like this and the bore was pristine.
Just thought I'd let folks know what came of this.
It did sell, whole, for $345 including shipping.
On a whole, I made money from this auction (I picked up a lot of stuff) but I lost a little on this rifle.
In the end, I figured that everything was too far gone to break it up. The buyer sounds quite happy from his feedback and I'm sure it's gone to a good home.
If we ever get these old guns to tell us their stories, I'm sure gonna wish I had that one back!
