Not Bubba sporters but sporters by folks like Griffin and Howe and Sedgley.
Are there any books or websites dedicated to things like this? I'm finding myself drawn to them more and more and would like to learn more.
Thanks all!

There was a gun shop here in Pittsburgh Pa area Flags gun shop. they made some wonderful actual beautiful looking sporters. Think you would have a major size book on all those types.
If you mean "classic" sporters, you couldn't do any better than to pick up the two books written by the late Michael Petrov - Custom Gunmakers of the 20th Century. Excellent books!!
That looks like exactly what I was looking for.
Should've known the Librarian would know
Thanks!
I found volume one and two for about $225 total.
That's a mighty expensive addition to the ol' reference library!! Should be some fun reads though.
rcathy, Check your email.
Sounds great. If i need any info. I will ask. Them books are out of my budget :super:
Michael P. was my "go to guy" for any questions on "classic sporters". He passed away a few years back and I still miss him. Always glad to help, too.
When they were selling his estate I believe you could by the 2vol set for $60. Always good for unwritten tidbits of history about AO Niedner and his operations.
Michael also took some gorgeous pictures of rifles in his collection in color, which, admittedly, the pictures in the book don't do justice.
Thought I'd bump this one more time.
I recently purchased "The Book of the Springfield" from 1932. Likely the first book written with in depth details on sporter 1903s. So far it's been a fun read...the author does not hold his opinions back!
Michael Petrov's books were also great, of course!
Anyone heard of any other book I should try to get my hands on?
Those books an many more about the long forgot firearms of the finest marks are top reading. The material is priceless
