They are claiming that this weapon makes all anti-missile defense weapons against it useless apparently according to what our CH-7 news just stated it can carry a 2Mt warhead flies at Mach 27 and can withstand 2000 degrees F.:eek:

Frankly, I don't believe any of it. How would a nearly bankrupt, cash starved Russia manage to do any of this? Putin is all about saving face, making Russia into its former glory of the Soviet Union. Doesn't take a lot of money to create a story and build mock ups.

I don't know USA is always showing how well they are doing with the Rail Guns they are probably 10 years further along than what they are portraying along with the new invisible cloaking sheet they have developed.
You really do not know what any super power has in their weapons development because as soon as they squawk about it counter measures will probably start being developed for all we know the USA may have the "Rods From God" operational plenty of classified shuttle missions they probably only said it was too expensive to throw people off the scent.

And if Russia is cash strapped then no offence to our USA brethren the US is not rolling in the green backs either, but they all find the monies from somewhere to continue weapons development.
You know years ago every body laughed at the technology in the Russian Mig fighters "Oh goodness look here they are still using valves?" well the first thing that was purported to do if you want to ground things is put an EMP to work sadly valves are a whole lot stronger than capacitors and resistors so suddenly your microchipped fighters/bombers are grounded due to burned out circuit boards who is the chipmunk now.
Maybe they have it maybe they don't who can tell allot of people have poked the Russian bear and to their folly gone down someone should have told Hitler that, as for WWII stats on Russia's losses its in excess of 20 million dead souls but it could be more I dare say the USA suffered no where near that number, Russia don't care about souls only to defeat the aggressor, having the edge is in that mix.
My understanding is that the reason Russia still uses valves in some of it's military equipment is because valves will still work in high levels of radiation where semiconductors may not.

The Russians use what they use because it's what they have and what they can afford. If they had better, they would use it. As for this new missile, from what I understand it gets its speed from the re-entry into the atmosphere which every nuclear warhead has, it has no internal engine to increase speed. What makes it different, if real, is that it can maneuver once deployed. In other words, it is gliding to the earth at hypersonic speeds and it can alter it's course to avoid missile defense systems and then re-acquire it's target. Sound like something the Russians would be able to develop before the US? While possible, I doubt it. Solution if real is to destroy the missiles before they deploy in the first place. Star Wars which the ridiculously named Space Force will take care of. I can't help but visualize Space Balls every time I hear that name mentioned for some reason or another. Thought it was a joke but apparently not.
A good example of this development is the US spent tons of money developing a pen that would work in zero G. They did it. One American astronaut supposedly asked one of his Soviet counterparts how they solved this problem and the answer was "we use pencils" Sometimes more advanced isn't needed when you get right down to it but sometimes it is.
Now that was a hilarious movie for those of us with a very off center sense of humor Aragorn especially John Hurt's reenacting the "Nostromo" dinner scene that along with Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy are some of the best off beat humor.......
If Russia had made some great leap in nuclear missile technology they would be very unlikely, in my opinion, to be telling everyone about it because the West would likely start looking for technology to overcome it. The story is most likely, in my opinion, an attempt by the Kremlin at disinformation, for reasons best known to themselves.
My comment about the Mig 25 was not meant to denigrate the Mig 25 but to ask the forum to compare the PR jobs done on that technology to this current situation. The Mig 25 was actually an excellent Interceptor. It had the one job of taking off, climbing to altitude, following a vector to an approaching bomber, homing in with an incredibly power radar, and launching missiles to take that bomber down. It was an ingenious application of the technology and budget available to carry out its mission. However, though it was excellent at its designed role, it simply wasn't a dogfighter. More of a rocket than a fighter, like the American F104.
NATO analysts had no idea that its mission was so restricted. They hadn't built planes with that philosophy since the 1950s. The Mig 25 was clocked by western observers at mach 2.5 over Turkey. Published records showed that it climbed to 20,000 feet in two minutes and forty-nine seconds. The Russians talked up its capabilities to great effect, obscurring the fact that when the records were broken the planes were at their absolute theoretical performance limit. They limped home with their Tumansky engines completely destroyed because their metallurgy couldn't support the performance they were "advertising." Didn't publicize that either. Let's be honest: it worked. The Mig 25 and its propaganda scared the CRAP out of NATO countries and caused them to push development of air superiority fighters to beat this perceived threat. Some great planes came out of that. Until Russian pilot Victor Belenko flew his Mig 25 to Hokkaido, Japan, and offered himself to the CIA for debriefing we had no idea of the plane's severe limitations.
Now, with that explanation, how do you think this current missile and the surrounding propaganda parallel that of the Mig 25?

I understood your point about the Mig 25 but not sure I'm seeing a huge comparison. They kept that secret and it was our own intelligence that hyped it up into something it wasn't and caused our military to develop countermeasures for what we perceived it to be, a highly maneuverable dog fighter due to it's huge wings. But the wings were huge because of the weight of the steel used in it's construction as they lacked titanium. This time they are broadcasting they have this miracle weapon more highly advanced than anything anyone else has and I simply find it unlikely. Putin needs to maintain control. He runs around shirtless to appear buff and fit and strong, he invaded a weak Ukraine to regain some former glory but his fleets, at least those that weren't sold off are rusting in port sinking at their slips. For propaganda, it may be more for his people than for ours. In any case, it will simply lead to rapid development of countermeasures which will make them comparatively weaker than they are now. Russia remains cash poor and he's making bad decisions siding with Iran rather than bolstering ties with NATO as he had previously.
