Yes, '42 was the landing in Africa but his character was WW1...so he would have had early issue and I know old guys, don't relinquish gear until it's busted. I'd expect him to have OD3 gear and fixed bale helmet, he carried his "Leon" fighting knife from WW1 after all. Anyway, good clear shot and could be an actual field shot if we didn't know better.
What about the watch?

Back in the day, when my sgt major was personal friends with Dick Winters, I asked him to ask the Major if remembered his serial number of his m-1 in Holland....No Joy...that would have been my jewel in my collection....regards....alex
I love the story, true or not, about the guy whose sergeant demanded he recite the serial number of his Springfield rifle... The guy shouted "One, Sergeant!" Turned out he really was issued #1... they immediately grabbed it from him and sent it to the SA Museum :)

The Rolex would be worth far more than the M1 $ wise. Paul Newman's Rolex Daytona sold for $15.2 Million.
