Reproduction Scopes

So I really want to replace my vintage K3 with a more appropriate scope on my repro (T). I know the reproduction scopes have a mixed reputation for quality but as I look it appears that most of this has to do with how robust they are. I have no intention of blowing any of my scopes up or banging them around. All I'm really worried about is if they will hold zero and can absorb the punishment of a standard trip to the range or to the deer stand.

So, for those who have them, how do the reproductions No32 scopes hold up and maintain zero? Is there any particular dealer you would recommend?

I have read that they rarely hold zero unless sent off to be re-built by the likes of Warren ('Wheaty' on this forum).

If you live in the United States, you would buy the numrich one, which is the cheapest, and check it by Warren in Canada. For other cases, I think that the best option is the Chinese RSM MK2 and the new MK3 from RSM, which are the only reproductions with 1 moa x click (all others are 2moa )

I've just received one of the repro RSM Mk.3 scopes and not had a chance to tear it apart.
Hopefully, later this week I will be able to report on it, so stay tuned.
I can see a few things that might be tarted up a bit, but will wait until I completely tear it down before commenting.

I recently bought one from Numrich and I am sending it back as the reticle is canted a few degrees off which is very noticeable to me. I don't know if this was an unlucky defect or if they are generally expected to be made this poorly. I can't speak for it holding zero as I never had a chance to shoot with it.

WE addressed this problem As being your after market scope mount, if you had a original scope installed in your mount the post will be canted . I have the same Gun Parts scope and when installed in one of my original No. 4 Mk. I snipers the post is not canted . When I place the scope from the original sniper in the after market mount the post is canted . It can be fixed with out too much work on the mount . Gun Parts scope is , at lest the one I received, is of excellent quality and workmanship .

I'm still not 100% convinced this is the case with mine. When holding the scope up by hand I can see the bottom alignment screw is not aligned with the vertical post of the reticle. I can only assume that it should be. I have some new items coming in the mail that will allow me to test this. I'll give some additional feedback when it arrives.

I have a couple of original No32s and the cousins as well as an RMS Mk2. My rms was fitted by a good gun smith, to a No4. A couple of thousand rounds in and it is holding zero and shooting well.
Exterior finish isn’t great, but it is working well. I continue to be very pleased with the purchase.

Micheal et al.. That is good to hear that your scope is holding zero.
I have tightened up a fair number over the years and they are not bad at all, just some people have a real hate on for them and with no parts box to reach into I can see why.
If you bugger up a customers scope and not have parts, you are in deep dodo.
I hope to have the new RSM Mk. 3 scope pulled down in the next day or two.
I have the tools to do it and will report on my findings as I have no stake in it other than I fix a few of them for friends and RSM has graciously sent me parts.

I have an update. I recently acquired one of Roger Payne's scope mounts and I was also able to acquire a real No. 32 Mk II scope for comparison. As I suspected it would be, the Numrich scope in Roger's mount was still canted the same as it was in the reproduction mount. Also, the real No. 32 scope appeared to be correctly aligned with no noticeable cant in the reproduction mount. I can only conclude that the Numrich scope is defective and it will definitely be going back. As a side note, the No. 32 scope was a very tight fit (probably too tight) in the reproduction mount. Its a perfect fit in Roger's mount obviously.

Warren any updates on the reproduction No 3 scope you were going to compare to a real one ?

Yes I would also be keen to know about the RSM No32mkIII
