Hi folks. I’m sending up a request to hopefully purchase one single part, needed to restore my Enfield Trials 4T. It’s missing the waisted foresight protector. The rest of the rifle is original including the barrel.
I know that they are made from unobitainum, scarce as unicorn horns and hens teeth, but if somebody has one in their parts box, I’d be happy to buy it.

Your best bet is to buy or beg permission to rummage through the parts bins at a large supplier like Century or Navy or whoever is still in business.
Bearing in mind of course that other enterprising souls have probably done so years ago before such things were widely known. ;)
Didn't a company in England make reproductions of these many years ago?

Couple of Long Branch Mk.I rifles, or just Mk.I sight protectors?
I've heard of those special fur-lined barrels, but had never seen one before. ;)
They are winter only use Surpmil as they retain barrel heat better than the unfurred one on the Rt.:p
I suppose with the right measurements, you could make a passable waisted protector out of a solid later standard production example.
It would suffice until an original becomes available.

There was probably a very good reason why it was replaced. Just be happy you have the rifle. I have a Mk6 with the lugs cut off I am not looking for another barrel. I know the reason why the barrel was docked. I do have the means to fix it but never will as the docking is part of the rifles history.

Some years ago I also pulled out a No. 4 Trials sniper rifle from a box at the large stock gun dealer. It was all matching and very nice if it hadn't been for whatever Arsenal to pull off the bases. Despite that I bought it and since then tried to find original bases. It did threw me back to learn that No. 4 Trials bases are of different shape and have an additional examiner stamp on them, so in the meantime I acquired a set of "normal" original No. 4 T bases which I really thought about using. But I never got the way to restore it, and then all of a sudden last year I found an auction on gunbroker.com for a single No. 4 T front scope base. When inspecting it closer it really turned out to be a Trials base, carrying the examiner stamp on it! Needless to say I had to buy it and very happy to already have it here with me. While I still did not got to mount it on my rifle, I am very happy to tell you that sometimes you have to be patient and just wait for what turns up. If you don't have to permanentely mount something else (as I would had needed to do, with soldering a different base) you can in the meantime use a replacement part, but just never give up finding it. It is worth it!

I have a ww1 scope no mounts been in the cupboard for years. Guess what I found a pair of mounts but wait there is more there were two sets in the bag on the table for sale. :D:super::dancingbanana::beerchug:

Thank you all for your advice. Candidly I’d take any of the waisted foresight protectors. Repro, early, or best of all Trials. Any would be a step closer to making the rifle right.
