that's it no more of my money to these con artist, this latest prie increase is just another way to get you suckers to pay more for ammo that they already bought. there was no increase in their costs they just wanted to sock it to you so orest and his crew can get a bigger bonus, so what if people are loading their trucks and selling it at gun shows?, it that was the concern you could have placed a limit of 5 cans per month and problem solved, the bottom line is the CMP are greedy and I am feed up with it, now is the time write my senator and obama and let him know what a sham this CMP is and how it should be closed, promoting firearms is not what this country needs and I am sure the obama administration will agree, maybe aduitors should look at where all this money is going, because it sure dosen't help any clubs in my area, yea another ripp off for the tax payers , why isn't the tax payer making money off this instead of some scam orgainzation that is getting rich off the government? your greed CMP will lead to your downfall!!!

Well lets see I paid 35 cents for the 30-06 ammo I have. It was purchased a while back. So if I go and sell it I should charge .35 to .40 per round. Even though it is going for more than 1.00 a round.

CMP is selling the ammo for the going rate. You should have stocked like I did a while back. It will not be any cheaper than it is now. IT will go up again.

Well the CMP is still the best thing going for most of us. I would have rather seen a ten can limit per year per person to try to keep the ammo in the hands of those who use it rather than raiseing the price so much.
The only CMP beef I have at the moment is they no longer provide ammo at cost to clubs for clinics to get new shooters started.I have a couple Garand clinics this spring and found the CMP did not wish to supply ammo for the shooters at .17 per round like they had. I felt this kind of went against promoting marksmanship, especilly when some of the clinics were for juniors.

The ripoff is coming from people who are buying from CMP, and reselling, which is a violation of the spirit of CMP, if not the actual aggreement everyone who buys a rifle signs.

it is a good example of the kind of specious arguments that will - unfortunately - be effective politically unless CMP addresses the resale issue. See my attempt (below) to discuss this problem objectively. Maybe the answer is for CMP to raise the ammo prices so that it will not be economically attractive for the gun show bulk ammo buyers to continue doing it. As for rifles, I'm afraid that if CMP doesn't address the resale issue, its days may be numbered in this political climate - and, don't be surprised if the gun show guys really have that result [removing the CMP as a a source of reasonably priced rifles] as their ultimate agenda. Again, JMHO.

first of all if they really cared about resale they would limit the ammo not raise the price, you can buy new production cheaper then this old greek surplus. I don't think the 25 can limit is being enforced as I saw 3 weeks ago a guy load over 50 cans into his truck as it limped out of the parking lot. putting a limit per month would stop these resellers because they can't make enough to make a drive to the cmp. 2nd , I am trying to get you to understand their are plenty of left wing nuts out there who would love to stop the CMP if they knew about it and by the CMP ****ing people off with these ripp off prices for ammo and guns which are also overpriced. don't tell me the market sets prices for garands and carbines the CMP does. If they would have kept the old prices they would still be selling for that much at any gun shop. for all the money I have sent them over the years I want some damm respect and not get the ripp off price increases which are greater then the rate of inflation for the past 20 years, I question where this money is going to and many others in the far left media will to if it is brought to their attention, so clean up your act CMP and stop this bull crap price increase because some dump azz at a gun show is willing to spend more then what the gun or ammo is really worth!!

There is a limit, it was just implemented a few days ago. They had to raise the price because ofall they whiners wanting a limit. Think about it, limit = less ammo sales= less profit, so they had to raise the price to make up for the difference.

It looks like the CMP still provides Greek HXP at a reduced rate to affiliated clubs but the cost has gone up as well. It is currently 28 cents a round ( including shipping). Look at the "Club sales order form" on the CMP home page.

In your first post that started all this crap, you were the left wing nut. Ricky you are way wrong on this. Please name your source for cheaper "new production" ammo.

The CMP uses proceeds from sales to promote firearms safety training and rifle practice for all qualified U.S. citizens with special emphasis on youth. Their prices are competitive. Prices are set by available supply, demand and what the market will bear. It is not what they paid for the ammo, it is what they can sell it for. The CMP is by far, still the best deal out there and they use the money they get to promote the shooting sports. Money well spent in my opinion.

Speaking for myself, such a substantial increase is hardly welcome. In the past I've allowed myself the luxury of shooting the CMP short course 4 times a week, leading up to a match. Even one short course a week; 30 rounds, equals 1500 rds. a year. Any meaningful practice schedule is certainly going to cost you, big time. Well, it had to end sometime. At these prices you may question the wisdom of stocking up much more, as so many ranges are banning FMJ's. And these attract a magnet!

Rick, quit buying from them and there will be more for me when I order. That will teach those dirty crooks at CMP to try to steal your hard-earned money.

I already have 480 rds at the older price coming and had been dragging my feet about ordering more when the price increase hit. I don't like the increase but It's still the best thing going. They probably raised the price to slow down sales and make the ammo last a little longer (plus make a little more dough). What they did is common sense when you are getting orders in too fast to fill and you are 100 days out on your orders.

First, take a pill....you aren't exactly talking lucidly!

Second, NO vendor is obligated to provide you with a product at a price that YOU think is "fair". They ARE obligated to sell at the MAXIMUM price that the market will support, otherwise, they are either a charity or a pack of fools. ANY business model that ISN'T based on "All the traffic will bear!", is one doomed to fail.

Third, if you don't like the price for a product....don't buy it! If, as you say, you can buy commercial ammo at a lower price (yeah....like THAT is an actual reality!), by all means do so....but for everyone's sake, vote with your money instead of your mouth! The market sets the price, not the CMP! When the pickup-trucks quit backing up to the dock over at Camp Perry to load that crap by the ton...then the price will fall; if they don't, it won't...it's just that damn simple! Supply and demand! Sparkey....the CMP and it's parent (CPRPFS), are 501(c)(3) corporations. Their books are public records, and they are routinely audited. WHAT IS A TROLL?

That might spare you the pain of saying things that you don't really mean to people you like.

I DID NOT WRITE THAT MESSAGE, IT'S A FAKE!
1. Of course, sometimes you will find that people who know you well have already identified the message as a fake and have tagged it as such. After all, one of the troll's goals is to make you look bad. If you have a good reputation, people will be tipped off if a message that you apparently wrote is completely out of character.

2. Trolls have been known to become so irritated at having their spoofs identified that they have learned to write in another person's style. They may end up writing an intelligent message that is indistinguishable from your own golden words. If that happens, you can always just let the post stand and take credit for it!

3. Trolls will also sometimes write a "That Wasn't Me" message after a genuine one, attempting to elicit a denial. There really is no reason to give him what he wants, since a "That Wasn't Me" warning merely reminds people to be skeptical. That is to say, it is of no real consequence if somebody isn't sure that you wrote a normal message, since in the long run it is the ideas that are important.

OUR CHALLENGE
1. When trolls are ignored they step up their attacks, desperately seeking the attention they crave. Their messages become more and more foul, and they post ever more of them. Alternatively, they may protest that their right to free speech is being curtailed.

2. The Moderator or Administrator of a message board may not be able to delete a troll's messages right away, but their job is made much harder if they also have to read numerous replies to trolls. They are also forced to decide whether or not to delete posts from well-meaning folks which have the unintended effect of encouraging the troll.

3. Perhaps the most difficult challenge for a Administrator is deciding whether to take steps against a troll that a few people find entertaining. Some trolls do have a creative spark and have chosen to squander it on being disruptive. There is a certain perverse pleasure in watching some of them. Ultimately, though, the Administrator has to decide if the troll actually cares about putting on a good show for the regular participants, or is simply playing to an audience of one — himself

WHAT ABOUT FREE SPEECH?
1. When trolls find that their efforts are being successfully resisted, they often complain that their right to free speech is being infringed.

2. When a troll attacks a message board, he generally posts a lot of messages. Even if his messages are not particularly inflammatory, they can be so numerous that they drown out the regular conversations (this is known as 'flooding'). Needless to say, no one person's opinions can be allowed to monopolize a FORUM.

WHY DO THEY DO IT?
1. Affirmation.

2. Trolls crave attention, and they care not whether it is positive or negative. They see the Internet as a mirror into which they can gaze in narcissistic rapture.3. If you want a deeper analysis than that, perhaps a psychologist can shed some additional light on the matter.

CONCLUSION
1. Next time you are on a message board and you see a post by somebody whom you think is a troll, and you feel you must reply, simply write a follow-up message entitled "Troll Alert" and only type only that.

2.The only way to deal with trolls is to limit your reaction to reminding others not to respond to trolls.

3. By posting such a message, you let the troll know that you know what he is, and that you are not going to get dragged into his twisted little hobby.

Well the deal was for at Cost ammo for use in instructional clinics (official CMP ones taught by CMP instructors).Cost being .12 then .17 As of my phone call early this week it is not even availible at .28 anymore. I think the price they gave me was .53 shipped.
The idea was to bring as many new shooters in as possible,and promote marksmanship I was just kinda bummed they decided to make a profit on that ammo as well, that was part of the deal they offered to clubs to hold sanctioned new shooter clinics.
