First of the PDF updates/upgrades for those interested

I have replaced FM 23-5 Basic Field Manual - U.S. Rifle Caliber .30 M1_1951-10-02.pdf in my MediaFire shared eBooks folder and added it to a Dropbox folder I'll also be using. It has been extensively modified with links and bookmarks. An incredible number of typos and bad page references have been killed in the process, with some index references having been up to 100 pages off, though usually only 2 to 3 pages. Others will follow, and TM 9-1276_1947 will be next as it is nearly completed now.

Although all of the links are a reddish orange in color some are invisible, but they ARE there in the index. If remaining doodoo is found a PM would be nice.;)

TM 9-1276 was added today and is extensively enhanced. New filename is TM 9-1276 - Carbines, Cal. .30, M1, M1A1, M2, and M3_1947-01-22.pdf.

I am currently working on FM 23-6 Basic Field Manual - U.S. Rifle Caliber .30 M1917 Enfield_1942-08-03.pdf and it's about 3/4 complete.:D

FM 23-6 Basic Field Manual - U.S. Rifle Caliber .30 M1917 Enfield_1942-08-03.pdf was added to MediaFire and Dropbox. Extensive repairs, image straightening, and bad references removed. And of course, extensive bookmarking and index/chapter links added.:D


TM 9-1276 - Carbines, Cal. .30, M1, M1A1, M2, and M3_1947-01-22.pdf was replaced. Links were changed to inherit user's page zoom selection.

TM 9-1275 - Ordnance Maintenance U.S. Rifles, Cal. .30 M1, M1C (SNIPER'S), and M1D (SNIPER'S)_1947-06-17.pdf has just been uploaded to Dropbox and MediaFire. Several typos fixed, index pages needed more work than I was expecting and are not recognized text, just images... they are linked however and I may regress Finereader to version 8 and redo them at a later time.

If anyone wants any particular TM or FM worked over, I'm open to suggestion/requests. I'll start doing another one in a day or two.:)

It may be a bit before the next one, I need to get out the tractor and use the box scraper on our 1-1/4 miles or so of "driveway" down from the mountaintop to our neighbor's house while the roadway is still wet from the melted snow.;)

Well,... since the shady side of the mountain had too much snow to use the scraper I ended up with a bit of spare time anyway.

Today I posted upgraded versions of Ruger Security Six Revolver - Exploded View.pdf, U.S. Model 1911A1 Pistol - Exploded View.pdf, and a new one - Remington-Field-Service-Manual-for-Model-510-X-Model-511-X-Model-512-X.pdf - which is likely the best version to be found on the web.

Wait on this one... the faded text is bugging the expletive deleted out of me, and I'm darkening it now. It will take a while as I haven't found a trick for Corel Paintshop Pro to auto fill all selected text. This manual complements my CMP 513T barreled receiver project, so it's somewhat special to me.

I'll replace the already dramatically improved version ASAP.

Okay, Remington-Field-Service-Manual-for-Model-513T.pdf is now ready for prime-time. Dozens of fixes, and non-faded text making it a LOT easier to read.:)

Just added "Browning International II - Practice 150 Users Manual.pdf" and a 1974 version of "Browning Challenger Owners Manual.pdf" to the repositories.


I'm hoping the zoomed links to the illustrations page of the International II - Practice 150 manual work out OK. Bookmark navigation is good I think.

There will be a minor update of present work and a bit of a wait (or more than a bit) for "TM 9-1270 U.S. Rifle Caliber .30 M1903 .30-06 Springfield _1944.pdf" which is being processed now.

There are around four cropping operations and two straightenings per page times 56 pages, then 4 pages with half the work. All pages should be normalized and centered in 2017 x 3296 pixels.

I won't be proofreading it, but I don't want to take the Dark Ages Benedictine monk approach either and painstakingly reproduce the errors too. If any of you know of errors please let me know where to find them for correction. I should catch the errors which I absolutely expect to find in the index when I do the navigation linking.:D

Browning Challenger Owners Manual.pdf ..... has been changed. It is now complete including back cover although from a low-res source. Text clarity has been enhanced as well as the exploded views. I anticipate no further revisions for this document.

TM 9-1270 U.S. Rifles, Cal. .30, M1903, 1903A1, 1903A3 and 1903A4.30-06 Springfield _1944-01-20.pdf is reassembled, rebuilt, and normalized and is now ready for bookmarks and and page linking. Three sources were used to reconstitute it fully, cover to cover. It will be exceptionally nice when completed I think.:D

That's a rather nice PDF. Would you like it back with the pages linked in the table of contents? I've changed the print density and size of the first page to normalize it, and corrected the typo on page 67 already.:)

For my local copy I think I'll rotate the landscape pages and move the image titles to suit, and make it a very online-friendly variant. Mucho thanks!:thup:

That was a draft. I have the MS Word version if you want it, it was a project I started four years ago and just never go around to finishing it. I have a lot more to add to it. I’ve go oodles of Remington 500 series original documents and Remington model 12 as well. I just can’t pass up the stuff when I find it.

As drafts go, it's a real winner. When I'm taking a break from working TM 9-1270 I do some pages of FM 23-41 which has differing dimensions and print density for nearly every one of the pages.

If you update that pdf I'd be interested in seeing it. The only other Remington I have is a 521T and if you have a user or service manual for that I'd be all over it!

im pretty sure i have the 521T Field Service Manual as well, I have to look for it. I got real bad at putting stuff in my binders. I know for a fact that I have the 513T service Manual. the only difference is the barrel and sight between the two

I think that 521T JR user guide would look rather nice with a very massive digital massage. I’ll have to devote several days to that one at some point.

Aren’t the bolt handles different on the 513 & 521 models? I’ll have to take a look at mine sometime today.

Both the handles are the same. The 513T, 513T (M13) Gov’t , 513SA, 513SP, 521T, 521T Jr.(TL), and 521T Gov’t Special all shared the same bolt handle and trigger mechanism/adjustments.

Thank you! That's a real gem that I've certainly never seen. If were a REAL 'purty fart smeller I'd see if one of my granddaughters with their whiz-bang digital pens could restore this. I do think I'll probably give my brute force hammer/nail approach at digital picture editing a go though just to see how much I can avoid maiming it. (I'm truly that not-so-very-good at it, I do realize my limitations).:lol:

For anyone interested, here's a taste of the current reworking of TM 9-1270:

Final resolution for the normalized page size came out to be 1620x2600 and seems to be an OK choice for the final filesize/page resolution when completed.

Still chugging away.:)

Hi Bob, if you mean the Winchester 1892, I dug through my stuff and I have the stuff below. Most of the information I collect is for firearms I have or intend to buy. Winchester's never really been on my list of wants. BUT, I'm always buying old out of print material and will keep an eye out for you.

Thank you for your kind words. That rifle is chambered in the sort of rare Winchester 38-40 round. If you don't reload for yourself you have to buy them from Cowboy Action outfitters. If you know your '92s, you know that John Browning designed the rifle as a scaled-down version of his 1886 rifle to take pistol-caliber rounds. The idea was that you would be able to carry one type ammo for both pistol and rifle.

Before I inherited my dad's rifle I had always wanted it because it hung over the fireplace in my bedroom while I grew up I. Because the odds were three to one (I have two brothers) I did a bunch of research into buying either a used model '92 or a modern replica. If you don't demand perfection, the originals can be had pretty cheaply, not too far from the cost of the modern replica. The best replica I've seen is the TAYLOR'S MODEL 92. The price isn't terrible and the modern rifles are usually chambered in less expensive modern calibers like .357.

Being your Dad's rifle I know it is. I feel the same for my Remington Model 12 .22, it was my Grandfather, my Dad shot it as a kid, and it was given to me as my first rifle. Thanks for showing it and for your website.

ORD 9 SNL A-48 - Rifle, Subcaliber, Cal. .30, M1903A2_1944-10-06.pdf was uploaded to the Other TM & FM folders. The original source is rather crappy but is the only source I know of or have found. It is much improved.:D
