The web sling.
I am guessing that it is the same sling as used for the BM-59?
I am also wondering what kind of scope case there was with these. Metal or web, possibly the US mad web scope sleeve.
Yes Hal, Garand's sling is the same as the BM 59 (with fixed stock) sling. The BM 59 with folding stock has a shorter sling.
The scope cases are the American canvas cases: M65 and 7631596. Scopes and cases were all provided by the USA.
Are the manuals available in Italt?
The manuals and accessories have been selling on the web for a boat load of money. Much more expensive than similar US parts and the manual for crazy money.
Here manuals ("Nota Descrittiva") for the M1D rifle are unavailable, both for the 7,62 NATO version, and for the .30-06 version.
However, a number of M1Ds should still be in storage at the PMAL in Terni, and who knows . . . . .
I sourced two of the manuals (expensive!), one for my rifle and another for a friend who also got one of the rifles. So far, I have Case, rifle, sling, scope sleeve and flash hider(thanks Collin).
here is a copy of the manual for the Italian 7.62NATO M1D (Italian Garand T2 sniper manual.pdf - Google Drive)

Italian Surplus M1D Garand Sniper Sling. These slings were obtained directly from the importer and were imported alongside the M1D Garand sniper rifles from Italy. These slings are unique in that they are of canvas construction with a series of brass studs in them. Includes a buckle and sling keeper. Approximately 46" long. Unique item that has not been seen elsewhere!

Good Day
The slings are a great addition. The brass tabs are used when the slings are installed on the BM-59 series rifles. I'm not sure how but they are used with indirect rifle grenade ranging.
Inside the transit case, the securing method of the M84 elevation and windage scope tool is slightly different on my two chests.. One has a small wooden tab that rotates inside the loop, the other locks it down from the top. The way the flash hider secures appears to be consistent.

Since the chests were somewhat custom, subtle variations are likely to be observed.

Could they be used like this?
