So the box of parts that had the FN49 actions in it also had everything to put this together. At first I thought all I had was the receiver and the sights and stripped bolt, but then I dug into the zip lock bag of small parts that was in the box and it gave up everything else! Winchester receiver, stock and bands, Eddystone bolt... Now, who could help me figure out whether this can be restored, reblued and made into a shooter once I find a usable barrel? Any recommendations?

They are a few months behind on fulfillment, so while you wait you can clean up your parts and work on smoothing out fit and function. A fine sandblasting and re-bluing will make it a pretty shooter. looks like you have some duplicate parts so you can be choosy :).
chuckndenver does a great job at bluing or parkerizing, among other things. He usually has an ad on forum - warpath vintage llc.

The band, maybe. The box came with some 03 parts as well. Yes, I got a P14 stock and metal in the same box of parts. I will be selling/trading it and some other parts to fund the m1917 restoration.Quote:

Nice serviceable lookin' rifle now. Lots of character, not over pretty so you can use it regularly without fear. Did you get all the hardware parkerized to match? Grey?
Yep, the CMP barrel is parked, so I had all the metal parked to match and look like the WW2 era rebuild. I was worried about bolt setback on the receiver, an early Winchester, but it turned out to be a non issue. It was always going to be a shooter, so finishing it this way made sense.
Surprisingly, soon after this project was complete I came into another m1917 barreled receiver, an Eddystone, and then was lucky to get a stock as a gift. I already had a front sight and stock metal, so only needed a few parts more and now I have two 17s. Neither is collectible, but both shoot great, and I'm happy with the results.

I've been thinking of doing 1917 to compliment my original. So many sporters out there right no...few with the ears in tact but they are sill out there. I'll keep being patient, waiting on the right bubba to show up in a local pawn shop while I finish restoring the ones I have in queue already.
