Can anyone tell me when my 1899 Krag was Mfg'd? Ser #857070

Your sn is incorrect. Much too high. Production ended in 1903 at #474693 according to Poyer.
pictures? is the first digit of your serial obscured?
Your Model 1899 carbine serial number has to be 357070.
It would have been manufactured around November, 1901.
It is not unusual for 3's to be misread as 8's with Krag serial numbers.
U.S. Model 1899 Krag carbines fall in the 200K and 300K serial number ranges.
It is most likely you have misread the first digit as an 8, when it is really a 3.
Serial number 357070 would have been assembled around November, 1901.
I looked at the serial number under a magnifier... It certainly looks like a 8 but could be a 3. I'd considered that it might be a 3,
Thanks for your replies.

would love to see pictures for an example so others know what to look for.
Pictures... Ok I'll give it a try...
Attached is a photo of U.S. model 1899 carbine, #349912.
It is easy to see how the first digit can be misread as an "8". It is a "3".
I just know that 1899 carbine serial number has to be 357070.
It would have been manufactured around November, 1901.
Hmm that's Fancy!!
