Pulled the pin and bought an Inglis MK 1* CH Hi Power

Had one years ago in the 80s when they were coming in from China and loved it. Sold it down the road, and of course regretted it. Wanted one ever since but prices are stupid high.

Finally had the funds and paid $1275 for one on Gunbroker. It is a MK 1* with CH prefix, tangent sight, stock slot, and lanyard ring. I have an FN MK 3 Hi Power already, so I have lots of mags. I have a 3rd pattern Canadian forces Hi Power holster around here somewhere.

It looks to be complete and matching. Condition is OK, especially for the price. Super clean ones are about 50-100% more.

Nice, now you need to find a stock of course to make it complete...they're around and maybe you'll get lucky with price?

I pick it up out of Commiefornia 10 day jail on Friday. Sunday, I am taking it to the range. Should be a hoot to shoot.
I also picked up a Canadian style holster stock and hanger (for display purposes only, of course (GGGGGG)! I still have (5) pre-ban 14 round and (3) pre-ban 13 round mags from prior Hi Powers. I need to find them, but somewhere in storage aI actually have 4 or 5 of the 22 round mags from when I had my first Inglis with a stock many years ago..

A standing joke was that when an Inglis Browning was drawn for use, it was issued with three magazines and two bandaids. To stop the bleeding from the web of the thumb.

When I got it, I looked down the barrel and said OMG! It was filthy and nasty. Popped out the barrel, cleaned it and was pleasantly surprised to find a bright bore and strong rifling. That makes me wonder if this maybe is NOT a Chinese return pistol like the first one I had. It had a very frosty bore. When I get it, and thoroughly strip it and clean it, I need to check for import markings. I did not notice any obviously stamped on it in normal places.

Despite the pouring rain, I took the Inglis to the range...I AM IN LOVE! It shoots like a dream! It is much easier to point and shoot than my Glock 19, S&W 59, 6906 or Shield. It points so well, and feels amazing in the hand!

Using a standard Weaver stance, I was easily shooting POI/POA at 25 yards on the 50 meter setting. I fed it 50 rounds of mixed old ammo: assorted JHPs, FMJ, JFP, and even lead In mixed magazines loads. It functioned flawlessly, from two of the three mags I had. One, however, had issues. I put it aside to fiddle with later, as I also have a bunch more mags.

I have completely searched the Hi Power, and there are no import markings (or Chinese markings, either). My thought is that it is not one of the Chinese bring backs from the 1980s. They all had very prominent markings. I am guessing it never left North America, or possible went to the UK for a bit, then found its way back.

I broke down all my mags, cleaned, and lubed them. The one that gave me grief had the top loop twisted to the side, causing the follower to bind up. Someone probably tried to get 15 rounds into the 14 round mag. Five of my mags have no witness holes, and a follower with two round legs in the middle. These hold 14 rounds. They are parkerized with blued bases.

Three other mags have witness holes on the back, and have followers with four corner legs and a round lug under the front of the follower that the spring hooks into. These are also parkerized with blued bases. They hold 13 rounds, and have "Italy 9mm Luger/Parabellum". Probably Mec-Gars made for Browning. I know they made the 13 round Beretta 84 mags that had Beretta packaging.

I really need to find my stash of 22 round mags from when I had my first Inglis with a shoulder stock.

Canadian baby. With it and the Canadian pattern holster/shoulder stock and hanger, magazine, are a Pattern 3 (or 4?) Canadian forces holster, Belgian double magazine pouch. Not pictured my 22 round and 32 round mags for it, which I have yet to unbury out of storage. Nice wood on the stock. Apparently these are made in Finland. Definitely NOT the old Chinese copies that were floating around from the late 80s....

I like that Belgian mag pouch, wish we'd had those. Can't tell from here without seeing the back of the holster...'64 pattern or '82 pattern. They were better for sure than the '51 pattern but not much. The rest looks nice and clean. Just about perfect.

Its an 82 pattern. I have had them all, and the 82 was the best of the lot! 64s are terrible, as the 64 has a single belt loop all the way forward, causing the butt to stick straight out. At least the 82 has two loops, and it rides somewhat flat.

Ive had the pouch for years. Got it for a Hi Power I had at the time. It was an Israeli Police trade in. It was a Hungarian unlicensed copy. It was a really good shooter, though its finish was about like the Inglis. It still had traces of the Suncorite(?) black paint that they used like the British weapons. I got the pouch from Liberty Tree Collectors. I also had an Israeli Mash Az volunteer civil police M1 Carbine that had the black paint. Mash Az is like neighborhood watch with guns.

The '64 has a velcro fastened belt loop, quite wide. The '51 has a M1910 belt hook and two loops and is VERY thin cotton duct. That's the one that the pistol would virtually fall out of unless you tied the lanyard around it. The '82 has a set of plastic hooks on the back that fasten to the brass eyes in the waist belt...

This is the one I have. When I bought it, I was told it was a pattern 82. I have had the WW2 style and the pattern 51 with the 1910 hooks. That was a TERRIBLE holster!

Well, you're right, it does look like an "82. I thought there should be a plate on the back for the belt but not so sure now...my mind must have fabricated that. The material is for sure the cheap '82 junk. Anyway, none were very good. The '64 was the solidest. The WW2 types were far better for retention and protection. The '51 had a SINGLE loop in back at the front edge and the M1910 wire hanger which is why it was so bad.
