I sold some issue firearms, raised $..and won this, Underwood was in Hartford right near our family business, their wartime employees spent lots of $ at my grandfathers store!

I think its good...too bad not "I" cut, but early..and no wheel is correct, I read, in one book.

All I can say besides it being a nice rifle, is that over $3k is a huge chunk of change.
Too rich for my blood but a great looking Underwood and I'm sure worth every penny!
Ya...now out of guilt, I gave my wife my final 2K in fun money, from my last sale..

At that price, that is not something I would be taking to the range every trip. I personnaly am more of a shooter and not a collector... Still, it appears to the a piece of history as it once was.... nice!
My collection is never fired...they are brave veterans, who as their original users, deserve the respect, admiration, and rest.

Perhaps topic for another thread, but I am totally behind you on the use of these venerable weapons. I NEVER fire one of my "collectibles". I have a couple of "shooter" carbines if I am so motivated. Can you imagine breaking the extractor on an IP??:banghead:

I have an underwood seril# 1,441,1xx. It has the UEF over GHD in a box and I also have the CC's right before the grip.
Not shooting your Carbine is tantamount to putting an Airborne Ranger on KP.

A firearm that's "too important" to shoot is like a Super-Model that's "too pretty" to kiss (or other things!)! The minute a firearm is consigned to "wall-hanger" status....something very important is lost! YMMV!Quote:
