Put this all together and we'll restart that thread about instructional oversize weapons...
I used to be familiar with First St Seattle where every other store seemed to be a surplus store. They all had one of those or another. Carbines and BARs, .30 cal...tons of training grenades. Could have bought all the scarce stuff then. 1974, Easter weekend...
What is it made of? Zinc? That is a valuable piece.
Thanks a lot for posting this
You could have at least had the decency to wait until it was over so I couldn't bid on it! ;)
I've had, and sold, a complete one of these. They're a little too valuable and LARGE for me to hang on to. But this small section isn't worth much more than I just paid (I don't think) and will display very well.

Oh me, when "eb in Oregen" see's this he will want to make a 20 mm out of it, can't wait. ;)
Even the last one JimF had was missing the magazine, IIRC. Those mags must be pretty darn rare - think he had one made up from wood for his show displays. He said his 2X Carbine was made of wood and aluminum. - Bob
The one I've sold was complete and went for 1,750 and that was a few years ago.
Since this is really the most important and visually impressive section, I think you're probably right.
Either way, like I said, it will make a killer display. I'll have to whip up a stand for it.
Just arrived!
The action looks complete except the selector switch is snapped off. I think I’ll be able to fabricate one of those.
It even came with 4 of the double sized cartridges. Super cool.
My plan is to disassemble and hit everything with a scotchbrite pad and oil/grease it really well. Might even touch up the red paint where the cutaways are.
I’d love to mount this on a stand that allows manipulation but holds it sturdy. Obviously I don’t want to drill any holes into the “rifle” so that will take some thinking — perhaps some custom clamps.
Finally, I don’t bid on Proxibid at all. I spend A LOT of time on one of the other auction sites and just find Proxibid’s website less convenient to navigate.
I would not have seen this item if not for this thread and I’m super happy to have it. So thanks!
