I've been watching. Swore my service oath to her in 1974 and never un-swore allegiance. Very sad time here now. I hope she didn't suffer at the end. She did enough during her reign. RIP.
My condolences to all of you who were her subjects.
I always liked her a lot.
It is sad to see her go but she's been there forever.
Even sadder, I expect this will lead to a dissolution of the Commonwealth because She was loved, and Charles is not. Even heard as much today on the radio from an Australian.
God bless her. RIP.

A great lady, a great monarch and probably the equal of the first Elizabeth, though not so sorely tried. Sans peur et sans reproche.
I wonder if she was pushed out early as George V apparently was.
This time not so as to make the morning papers on time, but for other reasons.
Doing in the Commonwealth, like the United Kingdom itself, is certainly part of the larger program, so trial balloons can be expected to start rising soon enough.

Heartfelt condolences to all the UK/Commonwealth members at the passing of Queen Elisabeth. Her poise and calming demeanor will be sorely missed by all.
She had a wonderful sense of humour.
I reflect on her part with James Bond in the freefall from a helicopter sketch over London, and also a peice for all the children, the Paddington Bear Tea party with her in Buckingham Palace, but her finest moment was when she spoke to the nation and the rest of the world as COVID came to a close, so profound, and from the heart, from someone that had seen so much tragedy in her lifetime of service and the loss of Prince Philip her best friend for so many of those years together.
Rest In Peace.......it was a pleasure to have served for you!
May sound strange but she has been there for all my life and I now feel the world will be a different place we will never see another monarch that was so loved and respected by her subjects.
For Australia I cannot say which way it will mould our future the undertones of us leaving the commonwealth have bubbled for years under the surface but seem to be the same state of affairs as Western Australia's two bids to succeed from the rest of Aus.
For what its worth it is a very sad day if my dad was still alive I am quite sure he would be heartbroken as even though he served in the RAAF in WWII for 4 years AFAIK he never became an Australian and retained his British citizenship.
For the Queen Sic Atur Ad Astra. ( Thus one goes to the stars : such is the way to immortality.)
Sad day indeed.
The late Queen Elizabeth earned people's respect from all around the world, over her long reign and I am confident that our new King, King Charles 3rd, will also earn people's respect. Charles has spent all his life preparing to be King and I am sure that he will be a good king.
The late Queen was a hard working royal, right into old age, and visited many places all over the UK and all around the world. I remember seeing her a few feet away, some years ago, on one of her "walkabouts" on a royal visit. The thing that struck me was how short she was which I hadn't really noticed before until I saw her in person. The thing that I found amusing in the minutes that we were waiting for the Queen to come walking down the street was that a number of women in the crowd around me were frantically making adjustments to their make-up and hair, even checking in mirrors that all was correct, as if the Queen was going to notice.

Looks like it to me too.
Today, after a few months, I went to the rifle range. Took my P14, since I had lots of commercial ammo. And also thought that it was the right day for a .303 shootout. I dedicated my first shot to Lilibeth… Quite a good one! RIP.

Neither of those ladies was the the late Queen. ;)
The second photo is the Princess Elizabeth on board a RN ship - on checking I see it is described as HMS Vanguard in 1947 on the way to South Africa for the Royal Tour.
Look who is number one at the door this time round...............RAF Abingdon PARA Course 1978 our Colonel In Chief!!
Third one along looks like a REME bloke. There was always a bit of chatter about him wearing the full wings but not doing the full course - which includes P Coy. Old and new smocks there too by the look of it
If I've already mentioned this, look away now! Tidworth, Autumn 1970 and selected for the mixed unit Quarter Guard for Price Phillips visit. Running a few minutes late and Phil was clearly anxious to get to the mess for a morning cup of Scotch. The weather was drizzly and if we were there for much longer, the whitening of our belts and rifle slings would start to run....., in fact, I think it had started to run a bit.
Anyway, Phil gets to me and presumably seeing that I had a medal showing his Liz's face stopped and said in his haughty lofty voice '.......and how long have you been in the rain...' Well, that's what I thought I heard him say. So I answered honestly, '....about 10 minutes Sir..'. I wanted to add '...and we're getting wetter and wetter..' but my inner will to live stopped me. Anyway
Alas, what he HAD said was '.......and how long have you been in the Brigade..'. After I had answered '....about 10 minutes Sir..' he looked puzzled and just replied '.....that's good....., VERY good...' Pete MacDonald and Dave Findlay stood in the rank behind me guffawed a stifled laugh.
By the time the Brigade Major and RSM had got level with me, they were livid - and I didn't know why. The RSM lifted his lip and snarled quietly so that everyone could hear '..I'll give you ten minutes laughing boy...... see me afterwards...'
We were given the remainder of the Friday off but the next week, it became the talk of the small garrison - or so I heard. But I never did go back to incur the wrath of Raging Bull, the RSM. Clearly Phil put in a good word for me because a few years later, his wife, our good Queen, Commissioned me
My observation from across the pond. She was possessed of a virtue sorely lacking in our leaders today. Dignity.
I believe God saved the Queen.
May she be greeted with "Well done my good and faithful servant"
