I love the gaudy rack numbers. It’s easy to tap into the mindset of the fellow assigned the task of marking the pistols haha.
Looks like it might have come right from a Cathay Ent holster of late.
what a joy! Hopefully you'll love that old style, spongy trigger as much as I do now. It's an acquired taste. I got hooked on it after my own CMP 1911a1 arrived.
I am pleased as can be!
The soldier who had it last and his armorer did pretty well. The trigger is a pretty decent 5-6 pounds. Quick trip to the range Saturday and it functioned flawlessly. First magazine of GI hardball on a 25 yard slow fire target at 15 meters, offhand, 6 o'clock hold. I'd call it good enough for who it's for.
About typical for most of the pistols I fired on active duty, a little tap on the rear sight to center it for windage. As long as it's well centered left and right, it'd be serviceable for me. Elevation is easier to figure.
Looks fine. Glad it worked out.
What CMP Grade is your pistol? What are the Barrel markings?
It is a Field Grade. The barrel is a wartime production High Standard. Marked "HS" on the the right side of the lug and a "P" on the left.
mine was also a field grade. The barrel was marked '85', with a contract number underneath. I've read these are from a US/Isreali contract production replacement barrels. It is chrome lined, and appeared unfired after I cleaned the dried grease out of it. It shoots very accurately...off a bench. I'm just an average pistol shot, therefore I'll say it shoots much better than me.
I was in Ft Lewis with my rifle company doing FIBUA in the tire house in '89... While the troops were moving through dry I was above them on the walls walking and observing. I was picking up .45 brass by the dozen as it was hard to get here and it was all Israeli headstamp. At the time I thought it strange. They were marked TZZ 85 and so on, mostly '85. Of course I still have some here.
just came across this in my feed this evening. entertaining to watch.
