Will you be jumping on the bandwagon?

After looking briefly I noticed, there is no topic about the soon to be available for sale mp44, mp38 and mp3008, and even a FG42. Probably because it isnt a "real" milsurp. But still.

Although they might all be restricted, with the exception of the FG42 most likely, and ammo for the mp44 being an issue.

Will you be getting one?

Me, I'm far to poor at the moment, I'm assuming the price tags will be around the 2500-3500 or higher, which I can get alot of m1's and k98k's for. Still, its very tempting. Im on the fence :dunno:

Sure would make milsurp shoots a little more flavourful perhaps.

I've heard nothing of the sort. Are these upcomming RC's? Please share.

MP38's, MP40's, and MP44's should all be prohibs unless the receivers are rebuilt to never accept full auto parts - last I heard anyway. I'm pretty sure the FG42 would be in the same boat because they were Full Auto's as well. Unless of course these are all dewats.

These are modern German made reproductions. By all reports, they are of very high quality, and priced accordingly. If you go to CGN (ww w.canadiangunnutz.com), and search for "STG44", you will find a long discussion. Marstar reports that they have samples of the '38, '44 and MP3008 in hand, and a FG42 will be here in a month or so. The '38, '44 and MP3008 are restricted because of barrel length; the FG42 should be non-restricted. The company willl also be making a MKb42. The owner of Marstar will be meeting with the producer in Europe in 2 weeks time. Not the real thing, but from the photos as good as you are going to get if you aren't 12(2) or 12(3), and they can also be taken to a range on a standard ATT being semi auto only.

In that case I'm sure they will sell as well as the $4000 mg34's, or the $750 ozzie No 4's (still yet to sell out). Most WWII collectors are so picky that they would't allow repro or parts guns in their collection, and definatly wouldn't spend 2500+ for a fake. I'll bet WWII shooters will love them, but thats alot af dough to fork out. Personally as a collector, I'd wait for a dewat, and spend that much, but not for one of these. Drop the price below $1000, they may be a hit, but I do see original matching (dewat) MP40's at shows sometimes going for 2000-$2500. Also, like other "new" guns, as long as they are still made, the price on them will only go down as they get used. If you buy one, let me know, I'd love to shoot it! :) Otherwise, I'll wait to see one at auctuon and get a deal on one.

You won't see 'em below $1500 b/c they things COST over $2000 just to buy from the manufacturer at wholesale ;)

Given that 99%+ of us can NEVER own the real thing, these are not a bad alternative - but comparatively few of us will be able to afford/justify the cost.

I will follow with great interest the sale of these guns. It's still hard to tell what the market for them will be like IMHO.

I think there is a lot more interest now than when/if the repro's actually show up.

It's easier to say "I'll take one of each" than to actually write the cheque. The MP44 will be a particularly tough sell, IMO, given the calibre. Anything in 9mm or 8x57 will be a lot easier to sell than something in 7.92x33.

Personally, I'd rather have one of these that I could shoot, rather than something that once was a firearm, but that's just my opinion.
Obviously the market is going to be limited and specialized. Marstar will no doubt be able to sell all that they import. These aren't intended to compete with Chinese commercial market SKS rifles, or the AIA No. 4ish rifles.

Indeed. Im eagerly waiting to see a price tag. And as with the semi auto only mg34's and the m1919, the only thing holding me back is the price tag, and it will probably end up being the same with these newly arriving repro's. But im praying the mp38's wont sell for too much :bow: since 9mm is cheap, and im sure it would be fun to take to the range!

I don't think that the 7.92x33 will be much of an obstacle. There is talk of new commercial ammunition becoming available, but even if it never happens, the case is easy enough to form from cheap, readily available brass. I can remember when 7.62x39 was just about unobtainable, and the only option was reforming 6.5x54MS or 6.5x52MC cases - and these were't exactly widely distributed. Formed and loaded a lot of 7.92x57 for a CA MG34. There wasn't much surplus ball available at the time.

I'd love to own a '44 (actually any of those really) but I can't at this point justify spending that much on a single rifle... unfortunately.

I wonder if the RRA 9mm AR "pistol" 10 round mags will fit in the MP38 clone?

I wont be buying one, for one they are expensive and 2nd reason (sorry this is gonna stir up contraversy but still gonna say it :runaway: ) is the only person I know who had experiance with the German SMG's said they were garbage (my grandfather that faught in 2 wars one being WW2). :)

I've used MP38s and 40s, as long as they were maintained by the user, they were extremely versatile and user friendly. They operated well under extreme conditions but as with most smgs, wern't very accurate beyond 50 yards. No experience with stg44s though other than to handle a few. Even in African countries, where most of them ended up after WWll, ammunition was a problem as well as poor maintainace and parts issues. bearhunter

Dimitri: My Grandfather was FORTUNATE enough to be issued an STGw.44 during WWII when he was in Russia. According to him (an accomplished gunsmith) the STGw.44 was better than anything else he had fired during that war. He also spoke highly of the MP 40. Even with the supply shortages that plagued manufacturers towards the end; the STGw.44 and the MP40, and I quote my grandfather as he would often say in his thick accent "were still finely precision machined and a pleasure to fire".

regardless of these firearms being good or bad in its day, it would still be a lot of fun at the range im certain. But since prices arent yet known Im still wondering if I will be getting one... In the long run I would most likely enjoy buying rare milsurps more, but if the price is right a mp38 could be tempting, I doubt the stg44's will be cheap.

Many liked them, I realize this but just stating a opinion of someone that I know who used them. :)

I am sure I wouldnt mind pulling out a new mfg STGw.44 at the range and making a few heads turn.
