The * means it is a Pattern 14 MkI*. The left lug has been lengthened. Your rifle apparently is one of the 45% to not go through the Weedon Repair Standard though. Makes it a little rarer.Quote:

I would like to see the very end of the fore stock, looking from the muzzle to the butt end, there should be a stamping in the wood there. As well it would be nice to see a picture in the area where the butt stock marking disc is, and if you feel so inclined maybe a nice picture of the left/right side of the rifle in it's entirety.
Not sure where you found that one but I've been looking and advertising for a non-Weedonized P14 in the same country as you......good for you for coming across that one!

After submitting the above text I looked at M1lover's profile and saw that earlier this year that there was a thread started on this same rifle with info and pictures, that has answered my questions so no need to send additional photos M1lover.
Nice rifle even though it sits in a Eddystone stock.

Your rifle is 1077 units before mine was made. Mine was manufactured as a mk1* and built into a target rifle by Parker Hale, and so marked on the top of receiver. I believe yours also was manufactured as a MK1* variant from the factory. Given the crown proofs and "B[alle]Blindee" mark I'd guess a Belgian rework. The phrase refers to jacketed bullets by the way.

Yes, That's a Belgian marking with the reference to it's caliber.
So from a collectors standpoint, it’s less desirable than a .303.
For collectors, somewhat but being converted to a popular cartridge like .308 Winchester might attract a different crowd.Quote:

Jamie remember these rifles also came in 30-06 so a later change over wouldn't be too difficult. It would require rebarreling, a magazine change and the rimless extractor. Is it possible that it just mic'ed out to a really tight .308 bore?
