CMP put limits on ammo. Thanks to all you whiners.
Did you get any ammo,or did you limit out?
Cary
Have some on backorder.Good Lord, the gobernment will make life fair.We will all be equal. No one has more of anything than anyone else.Coming to a nation near you.Enjoy!
more ammo to more people = more people shooting.Am I doing the math wrong?
Actually, I don't think that I'm one of the whiners as not being involved, I don't care one or the other. Just curious though . . . How many truck ammo loads is now the CMP limit?

For years I have been buying garand parts from guys around Anniston.I think by living close they had a edge when it came to garands. It is not fair.I demand stores in all states.Ha Ha
they limit 10 cans per year now. I say its a good thing, so the people buying 50+ cans at a time every month just to sell for inflated profit dont wipe out the stocks, for people who can only afford a few cans of ammo a year anyways.
I know 2400 rounds of ammo would last me or any other normal shooter the year. I only use my 1919 once or twice a year, so that still leaves roughly 1600-1800 rounds to put through my m1 and 03a4 through the year.
When I want something I can not afford I dont belive in punishing those that can afford it.Life is not fair.Capitolism is bad untill you compare it to ALL the other systems.Maybe some of those gunshow sellers have to pay there tax on the 15th.My last federal rebate check went straight to my county for property taxes.
I have 6 cases in bandoleers from the old DCM Program plus a case from Red River Army Depot. The RRAD case contains 5 30 cal cans with only loaded clips and weighs a ton. I miss the drive to Letterkenny Depot for free ammo.
Free ammmo!!!!!!! I like it too much...
Everyone had a cow complaining dealers were buying it all up and selling at a higher price. Yes it depleated the stock on hand. CMP hopefully stopped it by placing a limit on it. Old saying " You can't have cake and eat it too".
I'm good with the limits if it means that more of us will have the opportunity to but ammo at CMP prices instead of just watching it all go to a handful of dealers and hoarders, most of whom are now the ones bashing anyone who complained about the limits being set too high.
When you see someone objecting to the fact that he cannot buy more than 2400 rounds a year, ask yourself how many open auctions he has going on Gunbroker. As a serious high-power shooter, I know that 2400 rounds is more than enough for any actual shooter to use. That's enough to shoot a 50-round course of fire every other week-end all year long. If you're shooting actual matches on the other week-ends, you get more ammo there. So who actually loses out because of these limits--other than resellers and paranoid stockpilers, I mean?
I've never bought anything from any of these programs, what are the requirements for buying ammo from them?,I shoot nothing but my reloads and don't really care for factory ammo,I like loading for each individual gun, most of them have own likes and dislikes, just curious how anyone is buying for resale purposes.

Where do you guys come up with the 2400 rds per year number? My math says 1920 per year. Only ammo available is 192rd cans, times ten,I think is 1920:madsmile:
I got an e-mail 2-8-09 stating that they had begun my last ammo order....... still waiting.
Well, I just got 7 cases at the N. Store in February, had two tins of Lake City just arrive, and have 4 more cases on order since January. That on top of what my inital stock is will put me at around 8-9k rounds. Have seen the writing on the wall for some time, also have kept on buying 7.62 x54r. Still .20 cents a round. Cannot be beat.
But you can only pack so much ammo plus weapons and gear.
And if people know how much you have you might become an involuntary ammo dump.

Yeah, all those lovely gunshow ammo sales parasites.
Yeah were whiners
they why is the CMP out of boxed HXP now? Wonder just how little clipped ammo there really is now.
If your someone that was filling your pockets out of CMP ammo sales - tough.
Dan
I have not put my pound of whines out. But, I see no reason that reasonable limits can't be imposed. Why not keep the CMP stocks of ammo available so everyone can take part and support our shooting activities.
Quite frankly the only thing that amazed and saddened me were the few shooters who apparently have the funds to out buy everyone else and who could care less about leaving anything for their fellow shooters.
I didn't think our sport had that many selfish and self rightous members. It's surprising there are that many with no sense of fair play or of sharing of a valuable asset.
Think about it, who really is helping promote our sport, the people who espouse a fair share for all or the small majority who want it all for themselves.
Where to you get more ammo? Did CMP announce they're selling more ammo?Quote:

too bad about the stop order for ammo hoarders. CMP should not be in the wholesale supply ammo business. I think ten boxes of o6 is plenty for everyone, just save the brass and begin the reloading process which will, as pointed out above, put you closer to your rifle/rifle's wants and likes. duggaboy
So, let me get this straight... when Obama and the Democrats want to place "reasonalble limits" on guns, ammunition, handguns, or whatever, that's bad, but when you guys can't afford to buy all the ammunition that you want now, then "reasonable limits," are good. What gives here?
For me, personally, I want the CMP to sell out of everything they have, BEFORE Obama and Democrats can manage to shut it down. And don't you think this isn't their ultimate goal. If any ammo or firearms remain in CMP hands when the program is eventually shut down, it will be demilled - destroyed, and no one will get any more. Every heard of a credit card? There are worse things than maxing out a credit card by buying "too much" ammo.
And how much is too much? Who says? You guys have already said that you can't find primers, bullets, and powder. How are you going to reload if that situation remains, or gets worse? Think about it.
For the record, and before I am accused of anything, I have never sold as much as a single cartidge of ammo that I have purchased from CMP, I have never sold any CMP guns or parts at a gun show. I do not have an FFL or a shop. But, I have bought as much ammo as I could afford when I went to Camp Perry to shoot in the matches.
You can't have it both ways.
Best regards to all. Keep your powder dry. Karl
Well O-Banner and his ilk create the fear mongering enviroment, and then a bunch of carpet baggers see an opportunity to reap great financial gains by wholesale buying and hoarding. The only difference I see is that O-Banner will ban guns and ammo and the carpet baggers will run the cost of owning and shooting up so high only a few will be able to own and shoot. Either way fear mongering economics will destroy our ability to defend ourselves. And you mentioned maxing out your credit cards to buy ammo, In my humble opinion that type of thinking and activity left unchecked has put our economy in deep do-do. And if you were to max out a card or two to buy ammo and the SHTF doesn't happen in the next couple of years then you are going to be sitting on a mountain of debt and the price of ammo and guns will come down and you will be left taking a big hit in the 6. I tried to use the spell check tool and apparently I haven't downloaded ispell yet, so pardon me if I goofed.:madsmile::madsmile::bash:
You hit the nail on its head Karl.I am always amazed at how many gun guys do not get it.There are only 3% who get it.Are you a 3% or not? That is the ? we are ALL going to answer soon I fear.No offence Mr. Bower but you are really liberal. What part of our lives does the government stay out of?
