Sad, too bad. They'll go out at theft prices and be used in crimes, only to be destroyed by police after recapture. If they can't be reactivated they'll be ditched.
The way they were carried in a sack means they'll all be scratched and dinged too.:banghead:
The last bit has me wondering. Government hit job to eliminate the museum and the guns?
Here in Estados Unidos 90% of museum theft is internal by "trusted" people - curators, conservators, directors, volunteers and people in position of trust with access to the collection. Overseas it's a different story. Australia has implemented draconian gun control and hence were able to do things recently to its citizens there that cannot be done here (b/c we haave 2A). Perhaps this is a blowback from it?
I noticed the museum used some sort of laminated glass that held together when struck with the sledge hammer and that it came out as a unit. We also saw the entry door broken into. The entry door should have been hardened (roll down sceen/cage). I wonder if the alarm was hooked up to the police? Police response time would be crucial but apparently all they did was document the crime scene.
The Old Mint in San Francisco had a million in gold (1992 prices when gold was about $300 - $350 oz) on display and was a block down from a sporting good store on Market Street. During the King Riot's (1992) the sporting good store was looted but nobody thought of the gold. Two mint police officers with revolvers so you figure they had 36 shots (and perhaps a shotgun). Glad they went for shoes and not part of the nation's wealth.
The guns are probably already in the hands of the heads of the Sinaloa and Los Zetas cartels.
Update: 3 men arrested, denied bail. Half of the guns still missing. The others are assumed sold off already. The men were making their own firing pins as part of their efforts to get the pistols functional.

Did not Hussien have a few AK's in gold
