1911A1 question: Should I leave well enough alone?

I participated in Round 2 of the CMP 1911A1 drawing and got one with a Remington Rand frame and a Colt slide. I asked for a pistol that had not been parkerized and got one with what I would say is original finish. I was very happy to get a 1911A1 but after having it awhile I’m kinda disappointed that it has a mixed frame /receiver. Since I was lucky enough to have been selected and it did come from CMP, would it be blasphemous for me to want to try to find a Remington Rand slide for it? The frame is serial number 1301xxx so according to Poyer, it should be a Type 3.. I would appreciate any thoughts. CHEERS!

During 40 years of service after the last one one was built, I doubt much attention was paid to matching manufacturers of parts, so I personally wouldn't sweat it either way, especially for a shooter.
Just on a longshot, I'd be curious to know the slide number, as I have a mismatched Colt.

To Low and Slow…is the slide number stamped on the underside of the slide, specifically under the firing pin stop plate?

I'd say a RR slide would be the easiest to get considering how many they made. Condition might be different though. I'd just enjoy it as is...

Ok folks… I looked behind the firing pin stop plate and I don’t have a serial number there. That makes sense because my serial is 1,301,6xx which according to Poyer is after they stopped putting serial there about 1,138,000! In my original post, I mentioned that mine was an original finish and not refinished.. what do you think?? Lettering looks pretty crisp but I don’t see enough of them for comparison. I would sincerely appreciate any wisdom, etc. I’m pretty new to the 1911A1and want to learn!

Because it was a slide in an armorer shop that went on. They serialized Colt slides to Colt frames. This would have been assembled elsewhere for other reasons.

I got the opposite. A 1924 Colt frame, but the usually ubiquitous Remington Rand slide. Go figure! Do slides swap without issues, usually?
