I had one of those back in the '80s when I lived in Alberta, shot hundreds of rounds of machine gun ammo with no issues. They showed up with stellar barrels and most were DE nazified with hard done outside wood. All were marked 7.62 on the belly of the butt. No, you won't have any trouble with .308 either. Lots of us shot tons of that through them as well, as there were lots of them around.
I’ll get one sooner or later…
Shot many hundreds of military through my Israeli K98. Tackdriver.
Had a shooting friend with a Long Branch No4 Mk1 with a frosted/dull barrel which no amount of work could make shine like a mirror. One range afternoon with lots of free still available military ammo and many willing friends, shot it until the oil literally bubbled out of the wood. You could smell and hear the oil cooking. Too hot to handle.
Of course, afterwards, barrel no longer showed any indication of frosting at all and evermore.
Israeli K98. The thing that Hamas run into every day..... Perhaps not recently though!
We had a member here that was IDF at one point used to set us straight on some of this. He was the one that told us the Carbines were used to defend schools and farms projects.
Exactly his point, also it didn't drain their front line stuff. Bet they have a ton set aside.
Have one that came out of Guatemala, ate up with rust.
Buddy found one imported directly from Israel, it's damn near mint
