Sorry guys, I couldn't stop at 5
My REAL Issue M14NM (a 1.5 mil SA from the last contract)
My Long Branch No4MkI*T (all matching and mint)
My REAL M1D Garand with the DCM Sale one inch mount and K4-60B Scope
My Garands(ALL of them)ESPECIALLY my Breda(built by your's truly) with the still in the wrapper VAR '66 barrel and my Type I NM 5945754.Both will knock the gonads off a gnat.
My Long Branch Lee-Enfields especially my two 7.62x51mm NATO versions
I hunted with the M14NM until 1991 when it became sort of NON PC and went over to my Pre'64 Mdl 70 Fwt in .308 Win but when I bought my Steyr Scout Rifle in 2002 I fell in love with it.Drops a mulie EVERY year without fail and also did a "twofer" first time out and got TWO with one round in 2005.
Buy one, you'll LOVE it !! JR
Well I would have to say my five favorite that I own:
#1 M1 Garand
#2 M1917 rifle
#3 M1919A4 and A6 (semi though damn it)

#5 M1903

Looks like with a couple of exceptions, the M1 Is everyone's favourite.
I was issued one, but had to give it back, so I went out and bought one.

1903 Springfield (NRA sales)
1778 Brown Bess
1860 Spencer rifle
Remington 1903A4
No, I don't shoot them.
I have two M1 Garands. One is a JCG rifle and the other is a .308 match rifle rifle. These two are by far my favorites. The next two would probably be my 1918 "high-number" Springfield '03 and my Remington 1903A3. The last is a tie between my 1918 SMLE and my Swiss K-31.

Swiss K31 - smooooth
US 1917 enfield (all 6) ?????
I don't follow, there were only three manufacturers. Now if you mean one of each in 1917 and one of each in #3mk1 (P14) that would be six?
Dan
Firstly, My Compass Lake Engineering AR15 with Krieger Stainless barrel.
Secondly, My HK-91
Thirdly, My Pre-64 Winchester Mdl 70 with BOSS in 7mm Rem Mag
Fourthly, My Garand(s)
Lastly but not least, My Krag-Enfield-Remington-Ruger (it's a keeper)
Tier all 1917's. My first hunting rifle, sporerized eddy. 2 lendlease winchesters. A chromed eddy drill rifle, (it kind of grows on you). A remington all correct remy parts. and a remy WW11 mix master.
The P-14s are next on my list, but I will have to let a couple of the '17s go for room. :)
john
Ahhh I get you now :)
I only have four myself but hoping to get more as time goes by plus a complete set of P-14's as well.
Dan
1) M1A Springfield

3. Pre-'64 Model 70 Winchester in .30-06
4. Custom '03 Springfield in .35 Brown-Whelen
5. H&R M1 Garand.
Well I have 6 different P14's as well. Three with Parker-Hale micrometer sights and three stock. and they are the three different makers Plus one M1917 with a Parker Hale sight. I have kept the original rear volley sights and the rear sights for those with the target sights The M1917 has RCAF property marks.;)
You might class the P14's that went through the Weedon Repair Centre before WW2 as different since the volley sights were deleted, though I don't have any of those.
As 0311Shooter says, I assume you don't have to own one but merely have to be familiar with shooting it:

Depending on the phase of the moon and color of the trees, any of the above could change places when I get up in the morning.
But if on a large south Pacific island w/ only one gun in one caliber, it would be the Model 70 in 30-06 for rifle, and/or the Rem 870 in 12ga for shotgun

Thompson 1927 A3
Johnson 1941
M14
M1 Carbine
Of course my wish list would have to include a BAR.
(do accessory kits count?)
Well, kinda hard to just pick 5 since I probably have 2 or 3 that would tie for first place. All of these I own and shoot:
1. FN/FAL select fire - Every time I go out!
2. MP 43 - don't shoot this as much as I would like.
3. Mk I Bren - regularily
4. M1 Carbine
5. K 43 - my hunting rifle
I also cheat and add
6. Garand - 43 SA (I'm in the process of building a Beretta in 7.62 Nato)
And I've also got a BAR, but I like the Bren better.
