PH5D are not all that common; saw one for auction recently that started at 200 GBP; don't know what it eventually sold for.
Looking at my own No 8, the tapped holes for the sight seem to be BA threads. They are not the same size as each other. Larger hole same thread as safety spring screw; small one same as extractor screw. Not sure on exact BA size for these.
Thank you for your reply. It was of great help. I just when out and tried a No.4 firing pin retaining screw in the top hole and it is the correct tread. the lower hole would not take the ejector screw but did take the firing pin retaining screw as well . The PH 5D front arm is located differently than the standard PH 5C it uses a screw hole next to the area where the striper clip would be on the No 4. What rear sight do you have on your No.8 ?
I have the standard No 8 sight on mine.
Hi
There's one on Ebay UK at the moment (not mine) at £150. I personally bought a PH 5DC model, which works if your No.8 still has the ejector screw as one of the fixing points (like the PH 5C, but with a short range scale).

Slightly off topic.
I have a target sight for my SMLE which needs a long screw for the trigger guard; a few different sights have this as a mounting point. Anyway, I found the ordinary brass screw that holds a UK electrical plug socket to the wall works fine. Being brass, there's no risk of messing up the thread in the trigger guard.
The 5D is attached with one #4BA screw forward and one #3BA aft.
