Can you post a picture of the receiver showing the serial number and proof marks? How is barrel marked? Ron (Canada)

In that case it was probably one that was awaiting conversion and is an M82 unless stamps say otherwise IMHO
USER - can answer your question on whether it's a M82 or a C3. Detailed pictures are a must. You need to tell us the barrel markings. Need to see the serial number. Is the rifle imperial or metric proofed? This info along with the calibre will be on the left side of the barrel. Also if you show us the build date on the barrel it will confirm year of manufacture. It is quite possible that you have a C3 receiver repurposed to a M82 and maybe the barrel is original. C3 receiver do exist. Ron(Canada)
Ron, a C3 and an M82 are the same gun - and both of them are 1200TX rifles with a slightly different stock (slightly different contour, cross bolt and length of pull plates).
To reduce the confusion as to what a C3 rifle is please review the following:
Manufacturer Number: 1200TXCDN,
Description: Rifle 7.62 MM C3
Attachment 99022
Interesting that they cost the Canadian Gov't $244.40 each
"...Rifle C3 is a ...Model 82.. with a 1200TX barrel.."
Attachment 99023

i found a parker hale M82/C3A1 numbered R-22814 chambered 7,62 mm, fitted with a pecar 4-10x45 scope.
i kindly ask if you can research that number in your archive to know if the rifle was a military one or not
thanks in advance

Miche,
Your rifle is an M82 Serial number R-22814 was not part of the C3A1 contract.
It was sold to Mr T Hallam at Charnwood Ordnance on the 5th November 1996 in 7.62 no scope fitted.
Hope that helps
Gil
so this means that the rifle was never in use to canadian military forces?

thanks a lot
R-22814 would have been very close serial number proximity to known "C3" / "1200TXCDN" contract rifles.
and originally shipped approx. 1974-75
Hello Gil,
Can you clarify your answer?
Do you have the serial numbers of all of the approx. 500 "C3" ("1200TXCDN") rifles returned to Parker-Hale in exchange for the "C3A1" ("M87") rifles?
