Would like my DAD to hold a Lee Enfield No.4Mk1(T) after 70 years

Hi,
it was suggested on the forum a little while back, that I should try to get a No 4 Mk 1 T owner to visit my dad so that he could after 70 years, be reunited with the gun he used in WWII. It was a great suggestion, however, there has been no response.

If there is someone close to Barriere, BC, who could do this, it would be a great surprise for my dad. I'd love to take some photos of him with the gun. He's 93 now and has only one surviving wartime buddy left who's on Vancouver Island, they were both Snipers in the KOSB. I'll be over to visit him from the UK in May.

Are you certain that he wants to have anything to do with his old rifle??

Get him a DEAC for the 70th there's loads around

There ARE forum members that live in that area...but I'd also want to be sure that he's up for it first. It'd be a shame for a man to move heaven and earth only to get a cool or cold reception...

point taken, I'm going to check it out when I know someone will visit, then we can avoid a negative outcome. I will be with him should a visit happen. If he's up for it, I think it would be something to see him with the gun after 70 years and I know he's bound to give some tips on its use.

If you look through the members in Canada, you'll find some in that area. You may need to use Google Earth as a guide to see who's close and who to PM. I'm on the island and 6 hours away...and I don't have a #4T...anyway...

IF your father is up to it and wants to hold one I'll make the trip and take one of mine. More than happy to do it. I live about three hours away and it really would be a pleasure for me to meet you dad.

If for some reason I am unable to make the trip I know my son would be more than willing to go. He is a real military history "nut" and meeting your father would make his day. Matter of fact we both might go as it is a rarity to meet a real veteran sniper.
