Hey, Brian, I think you ought to post pictures of that L1A1 that you have just rebuilt. Looks like one that'd just come from our big Base Workshops

OK, providing our good friend Badger will help me as I'm electronically challenged. One of my photography lights died so forgive the dark center. Close-ups are included too. It's a registered post 1986 dealer sample MG and set up with a C2/L2 change lever and trigger plunger. I can understand why this feature was removed from the regular infantry soldiers! It's great fun with the L12A1 .22LR conversion kit!!

Thank you!
Very nice, nice and clean. Ready for issue.
Have to say that they weree very nice rifles to use. But as automatic rifles........ Let's just say that we all preferred the L4 Bren
As an automatic rifle, our C2 LAR...they were basicly a joke. Even on singles those didn't shoot like you'd expect. A good C1 shot little ragged holes though...or at least was capable of it.
It was a bit of a neglected mess with a slightly bent barrel installed when it arrived. The result is a "ground up" restoration done with TLC. The replacement barrel was like new and dialed right in. As for FA capability; like Peter, my money's on the L4 Bren.
Funny you mention the C2 Jim. I installed a C2 change lever and trigger plunger at the owner's request. The change lever got painted/baked with Suncorite to match. I remember seeing Australian L2's in the 1980's working in the trade in Florida and they had a notorious "bang, bang, jam" problem. I built a couple of them in semi-auto only in the early 90's when the parts were easy and cheap to obtain, one an Israeli and the other a C2 and they were tack drivers but I never cared much for the heavy versions.
I always changed my C1s to FA, even though Capt Laidler would have had me doing the highjump for an unauthorized conversion. I never did get compromised for it. They worked fine but you'd only want two rd bursts unless you had the sub cal installed...FA in .22. That was fun.
