I am no orphan when it comes to the lack of responses from a parent that went to WWII my dad only spoke just to my B/inlaw once about his 4 years over seas and that was I guess because my B/inlaw went to Vietnam on a holiday to try and meet Uncle Ho

I've spoken with my dad and he is very much looking forward to the meeting which will be in early May. Many thanks to enfield303t for his help in making this reunion possible. We hope to post photos here and if the video turns out OK, that as well.

It's amazing how our interest in firearms and reverence for the men who used them brings out the best in people. At least some of us WILL insure no one ever forgets the true heros. It really shows when someone will glady take the time to travel three hours just to shake the hand of a man he's never met. Awsome, just awsome.....
Had a great conversation with Ian a couple of hours ago and was where he lives in the UK in 2003/05.
My son and I are the lucky ones in our opinion, a chance to spend some time with a former WWII sniper and to be honest there just can't be many left.
Ian and I picked the date, will take both of my T's one is a 43 and the other 45 and both BSA.
We'll be waiting for the picture expose'...
Well the visit happened and I must say what a wonderful experience.
Met Ian and his sons Jon and Jim as well as Ian's father Sniper Sgt. Alexander "Sandy" Scott and what an amazing man especially as he is 93 years old.
Sandy handled the T as if he graduated from training yesterday and worked the action as smooth as silk. Cass my son said it was the most amazing day he has ever experienced. Seems Sandy really connected with Cass and they literally spent several hours talking about Sandy's days with the 52nd. ( Lowland) Infantry Division. Sandy is as sharp as a tack and remembered names, places and dates as if it happened yesterday.
I honestly can't express what a wonderful experience it was, something both of us will remember for the rest of our lives.
Ian invited us to go for lunch and we all went and again Sandy related his years of service and when Cass would look up things on the internet about the 52nd. Sandy would explain in great detail what he did during that particular event. Sounds like Sandy like soldiers in all armies past got into his fair share of trouble while away from the front lines including selling the officers fish that he obtained without using a rod and reel. By the way did I mention he was a small arms and explosives instructor?
