Short SMLE bayonet?
This pic was taken by a club member in the IDF museum in Tel Aviv;
Attachment 97552
The short SMLE bayonet generated lots of questions. Was it a modified SLR bayonet? Perhaps an 'India Pattern Mk1**, although the blade doesn't look quite right? Or a shortened Pattern 1907 (like the shortened M1905 to make the WW2 M1(M1905E1))? But the fuller doesn't appear to be full length, and it would be if they'd chopped a Patt 1907 down. And the hole in the pommel isn't there, but it wasn't always, not on foreign jobs, not from the pics I can see in Skennerton.
Any ideas?

I agree...for what it's worth. Very Rare British No. 6 Bayonet. Basic design is as the Jungle bayonet but with a smaller muzzle ring. I believe these were a trial item, it would appear that Israel placed an order for some. Go here and look at the No. 6 bayonet. UK Bayonets By year (non Socket)

Good call chaps. I really ought to do my research better, I have the Old Smithy bookmarked.
Thanks.
