Several years ago I was given a M1903 Rifle that came to me in a CMP box. I got the box out the other day, and found this booklet hidden under the foam padding. Did the CMP include similar booklets with M1 Carbines, and are they still available? This one for the M1903 has 29 pages and the copyright date is 2002. Thanks! - Bob

As I recollect they came with a copy of the last TM the military issued for the carbine.
They came with TB 23-7-1 (Ordnance Field Service Technical Bulletin NO. 23-7-1) Carbine, Cal. .30, M1 dated March 17, 1942.
And, the CMP Rifle Safety Manual.

I should have included a date in my original post. I was thinking more of the Carbines from Italy around 2007. Now I'm thinking different books may have been included depending on the time frame. Also, were these military manuals and bulletins originals, or reprints? - Bob

Carbines may have been rebuilt and refinished at least once and will exhibit, in most cases, varying degrees of wear on many parts and generally nosignificant pitting on metal. Metal parts are mixed USGI. While all Carbines are USGI, some may have foreign markings. Muzzle may gauge 3 or less on muzzle gauge. Stocks may be replacement marked M2 type birch, beech pot belly or USGI walnut, but may have seen heavy use with possible rebuild or other markings. Each carbine will be shipped with an empty chamber indicator, CMP Safety Manual and a CMP reprint of FM23-37. The Carbine is also shipped in a CMP hard rifle case.
NOTE: Carbines will not be sold or shipped with magazines, slings or oilers.
I sent in my paper order form for a service grade one and 2nd choice for a field grade on 01/29/2016.
