Baker rifle converted to percussion
Does anyone know if there are any Baker rifle forums or sources of good information? There are some good articles on the net and I have most of the British military firearms books, and did until recently own an original flintlock Baker. I recently picked up an extremely good condition Baker rifle, infantry version (no sword bar) converted to percussion. This one still has the original Tower GR marked lock, but has been extremely well converted to percussion. I have seen some examples which were converted possibly in India but they were done differently. Baker rifles were apparently used by British forces in the War of 1812, and there are reports of the Royal Canadian Rifles being issued them or using them in 1840--could some of those have been converted to percussion?
Thanks!
Ed
