They do come up for sale on ebay quite often Be prepared to pay the price.
Yes, but thought I would try here as well...
Heres one in the states for you though you wont have to pay the $80 postage they are charging and is a Mk2 according to the description.
I expect with 6 days to go and 11 bids its going to go well abopve where its at present such are bidding wars V's sanity it seems S***O180 wants the rig.
I have bid against their likes before good way to run up the price as they keep going you just gotta know how far to push them or be prepared to pay well above going price.
BRITISH NO. 5 MK 2 BAYO FOR NO. 5 MK I ENFIELD JUNGLE CARBINE-POOLE 1947 | eBay
Yea, I had it at 225.00,, but I'll wait to see where it goes... Lol
On "here" there are still a couple of guys that are looking as far as I know. This discussion comes up every once in a while and the current bidding wars are pointed out. Your best bet is probably to buy a repro because as soon as you do, you'll find one that you can afford. Happened to me. Now I have three, plus the repro. My most recent cost $35, pretty sure it is a 1947 Poole. Harrisburg gun show a few months ago. They are out there, you just have to get lucky.
Yea, I go to the weekly gun shows around here..., no luck yet.. Awesome you were able to get yours!!!
The seller of the No.5 bayonet on eBay claims 'Hilt has original military green paint showing a little wear and flaking'.
I have not seen any finished like that. They are painted black on the pommel, cross-guard and ricasso, with the rest of the blade parkerised grey.
You can see the wear marks on the blade/ricasso where someone has polished it, probably with a rotary wire brush. 'Very good condition'? I don't think so. A lot of money for an example in fair condition.
Green was used for a finish also in some cases but I'm not so sure about THAT green paint . Here's the link I think, others will be able to appraise better. I think it's way to expensive, not just by a little either. That's an FN or L1A1 scabbard too by the way, pretty sure of that.
The originals were nice and polished.
