Arado, Nice job! I like the stock. I built an L1A1 on a DSA receiver (Aussie type). I had a kit from Sarco that I bought when they first arrived (80's or 90's?). The U.S. parts count was a big pain and it took about 8 mos to get the receiver from DSA. Fitting the barrel and headspacing (finding the locking shoulder of the correct dimension) took some time. I also have an early Century Arms L1a1 that has the "Made in Canada" markings. As far as I know it is an Imbel receiver and is every bit as nice as the DSA. Is your state you restricted to 5 round mags? Salt Flat
the mag restriction in my state "Ohio" is 32 rounds center fire. any more and you have a machine gun. now to find my L2A1. I know I built one. It has a 30 round mag. I put a 5 round in the Fal pictured, to lower profile.
My only question would be the butt with the brass disk. I don't remember those in Canadian service. Might be wrong, but other than that looks good.
Had to watch my American parts count very closely, and probably put more money into this than I should have, but I am happy with the way it turned out. Attachment 42138
this is the disc. it was on the stripped C1A1 rifle parts from Marstar. it is commonwealth?
Is that carrying handle correct? Looks blackish instead of brown. Nice rifle.
The carry handle pictured is Australian. Ours was brown- red bakelite type material. The rear swivel is incorrect and the breech block carrier should be smooth. The stock marking disc was never used. The buttplate isn't the right one, but that would explain the presence of the disc. Maybe UK buttstock? Pre black? Your mag catch looks to be solid and ours were stamped. That would make me suspect the hold open device too.
I wouldn't worry about any of it as it looks just mint. You have all the hard to find parts, after all.
I got into building FAL's. I tried to make a representable example of types. The C1A1 was the most difficult to source. The easiest and best was the Stg58. these HB's were interesting. NOTE, I built my fals years ago.
