Yeah those are beautiful RCS. It`s always hard to get a good picture to really show off the grain.

No finish work yet being put on a back burner while i work on a cradle project for my first grandson. Started out a with a whole log. Going to have a Thunderbird figurehead on one end and a Dragons head on the other for His Viking and Indian Heritage.
Do I see the grain right? Is that ceder? Doing the hollowing out traditional...lots of work.
It is a Doug Fir log the figure heads are being made from Cedar. I have been working on it since March. Rocks well right now but i have to flatten the bottom slightly to slow the chime alittle.
I have your stocks twin. So far, it has proved to be impossible to find matching handguards.
Mine needed to be stripped to find the grain, but did not have as much finish on it as yours.
First picture is dry, second is wet with water.
Nice piece. The only new birch I ever had was a full set from Numrich in the '80s that was matching and orange. Nice but orange. Clear and clean and orange.
Yeah the matching hand guards will be a challenge to find.
