Plungers and Springs...... Where are they ??
Well shortly after I posted, I messaged a seller who agreed to sell 20 Plungers and 20 Extractor Plunger Springs but he would have to list them in 2 separate GB auctions. When I messaged him I had spaced out my Email address and replaced the oo in yahoo to 00 Zeros. Hoping he would just Email me back, give me a price and I'd buy outright but no luck with the email. But he did list them and I bought them. He sent them out pretty quickly so all AAA+++ to the seller. To the USPS not so much :banghead:. I tracked them until they hit Fort Wayne, IN and then made it to Detroit !!..... but 2 days later they were back to Fort Wayne, IN and I'm still waiting. But I'd still like to buy more of each.
A week+ after these 2 GB auctions, I ordered a 10 pack of bolt pawls from Andre' in France. Those arrived here Saturday the 9th.... All the way from France, so go figure.
Also Saturday I got my care package from Eddy Yuja. I picked up some misc Web Gear from his 81mm listings on GB. Next day we had been talking on the phone, him about the Grandkids and me telling him about how we now have another group of young kids growing up in the neighborhood. I was telling him how they liked playing ARMY and I set them up with helmets, belts, pouches, Army shovels, mosquito head nets, ponchos... etc. to go with their Army gear. 2 summers ago they had a great start on their Army Fort back on the river bank behind me. We laughed and talked about memories of growing up doing the same things. These kids are young enough to have fun with but old enough to be durable. Well this past summer was wasted because on the Covid BS but we did have a company come thru with a large pontoon excavator clearing out log jams. Just up river from us was a big one and since there is nothing but woods 5 miles north across the river, $200 got them to pile a mountain's worth of logs in one spot. Kids wanted a Fort, well I've got a great spot for them to build one now. I told Eddy how I buried Grenades in the backyard and would have them use the metal detector to look for land mines and how I'd bought the Land Mine Caution signs you see for sale. So big plans for this summer if Covid gives us a chance. I'm stocked up on fireworks for 'Simulations' and ordered 6 of the simple 2 man A frame pup tents. I've picked out the 2 trees I need for a Zip line, unfortunately it will be a one way ride. But I have canoes for the return trip and it gets shallow enough for them to just be knee high when it's low. Maybe a rubber raft ?
Eddy offered up a bunch of odd and ends Web gear at near give away price and I gladly paid. But some of these I don't recognize and will need help to ID. I'll get some pictures around first chance I get. Eddy () also threw in a pouch full of Mexico and Guatemala coins I could use as 'Treasure' for them to find. I'm already in trouble with the Wife about the Web gear. I opened it all up and laid it all on the dining room table. Next morning I was getting the 'LOOK' and the silent treatment when I headed in for coffee.
That's when she started chewing on me about how the whole house smelled like a old Army tent.... And it sure did! Guess I should have left them wrapped up.
The neighbor 4 doors down is a sheet metal fabricator and is drawing up a plan for a body kit to put over my older Craftsman rider. He won't tell me what yet, but he has 2 twin boys that play here. Said his way of pitching in and it should fit right in with the theme.
I sure hope it's a good summer. Think a Spud Gun would be overkill ? We used to cut the top and bottoms out of soup cans and tape them together, leaving the bottom in the last can with a nail hole in the bottom edge. Spray some lighter fluid down in it and swirl the cannon a couple times. Drop in a tennis ball and light by the bottom hole. We nailed many a canoer as kids from our hideouts. Spend our allowance and lawn mowing cash at the Army-Navy surplus stores.
Anyone remember playing Army ?
Pardon my random post, I'm trying to keep it together but with no gun shows it's getting tough. Now if I can just make it thru 5+ more months of Winter.
:surrender:
Long Delay = Happy Ending
I thought I should follow up about the Plungers the GB seller Flyingwoof was kind enough to list in a quantity I requested. I wish he would have offered them outright to me via my Email, but maybe he thought it was GB fishing for someone dealing outside the rules ? I was the only bidder and got the 12 Plunger tips for $40.00 plus $4.00 ship so total of $44.00 for 12 Plungers oh and a money order. So roughly $3.66 each. I bought these before Xmas on 12-22 and he sent them out on a few days before New Years. Well they got lost, tracking from his end and mine was useless after them getting to Detroit but then being sent back to Fort Wayne, IN..... then nothing. He was doing everything he could and so was my Postmaster. I even filed a claim as advised by my Postmaster and Flyingwoof kept at it at his end. In the mean time I was buying more where ever I could find them,,,, just Plungers and complete Plungers and springs. Like Fulton a complete spring and plunger for IIRC $5.95. Bought from 1/2 a dozen sellers in case more got lost. 2-1/2 months after the GB Auction by Flyingwoof the package appeared in perfect condition. I had wondered if the label had got messed up but it was perfect. So I got em and all the others. I'm stocked up on Plungers for more than likely the rest of my life time.
I can't Thank William (Flyingwoof) enough for his help.
