Our last Invincible class carriers already had these ,"Pre-Wetting", intended to wash nuclear "fallout" from the ship. Presumably the new carriers have been fitted with them as a matter of course.

Sounds like a job for the metallurgists alright. Textured Monel? But any non-rusting metal would also develop a polish very quickly that would be a no-no from a visibility point of view.
Maybe the work would be easier done on the composition and characteristics of aircraft tires (not to mention their sizes and the gear designs)
Peacetime maintenance has a way of getting difficult in wartime.
