Which Saginaw Gear? S.G. or S'G' ? If it's S'G' then the answer is no it's not possible. If it's S.G. then it's in the realm of possible but depends on the serial number.
The flip sight was replaced starting in 1944. Both Saginaw plants started making 'em in 1943(Saginaw in Feb. Grand Rapids in March.), but not likely as both ended production in early 1944.(Saginaw in April, 1944. Grand Rapids in January.) However, all 99.99% of Carbines went through an arsenal rebuild to put all the upgrades on.
Grand Rapids NEVER used the adjustable rear sight. Their contract to make carbines ended in December 1943. S.G. did use them starting in March 1944. Both the type 2 and the type 3 adjustable rear sights were used at the same time. There was a time difference at plants and in the field. When first used they were in very short supply. It eased up some when all but Winchester and Inland ended their production at the end of April 1944. It wasn't till May 1945 when armorers started to get the adjustable rear sights as replacements. That is when Inland had to revert back to the type 1 rear sight to keep production going.
Most all good input from members spending their time researching and trying to help.
But at this point we still don't know if it's a SG or S'G' ?
Seems like the OP could follow up on that question asked of him.
Or is it jut me ?

As stated second block of S.G.,not S'G' which was closed down. My S.G. is 1944 production, second block.ser.5858335
Jeep,
Thanks for clearing that up.
I believe it could be very possible, being that late in SG's production. Maybe a case of using up what was left in the parts bins (like the early barrel band) along with a freshly delivered load of adj rear sights. Most all the makers used up what was left to complete orders. I'm sure others will chime in.
Thx Again,

P.S. War Baby by Larry Ruth states on page 434 that SG used both of the rear adj sights near the end production.

Thanks I will leave it as is,why change history.
