SVT 40 ID
I have this SVT 40 I was trying to find some background on it. From what I read online am I right to assume it was a 1942 AVT 40 stock and receiver then in the 80s it was refurbished with the SVT Bolt and trigger assembly? The s/n match on the stock and the receiver but the bolt and trigger group are penciled on. The stock has the big A on it so I think that means it was a AVT. I don't know much about these guns so any info would be appreciated thanks!!

Your rifle is typical Soviet refurb (1960x, not 80x). All parts are mixed and force-matched. In most cases from original rifle only receiver and barrel were not separated during refurbishing.

Thanks for the info. Does the "A" on the stock mean it was a AVT at one time?
